The black boxes are probably for the most part placeholders for the totems, who don't actually appear in the pokédex. Then Mimikyu would be a totem, with a collapsed costume like its regular form. We already know there's a ghost captain, and it's not like there are many ghost lines this gen.

Not gonna lie, it'd probably be creepy running into a Mimikyu for the first time. Since they hate the sun it'd probably be night time and seeing this 'pikachu' that looks off would probably give ya a good scare.

I think Mimikyu is one of the more unsettling ghost types. As other anons have pointed out, a late night run in could be pretty terrifying.
