So I caught two Pikachus, gave them both the Electrium Z (this can be done, surprisingly) and then used Z-Nuzzle against a wild Pikachu, which didn't die.
I then let him kill my own Pikachu and tried to send the other one, to see if I could use his Z-move... and nope.
Only one Z-move per battle.
Well, this is lame. A good switch or maybe even Protect completely kills the mechanic
Thanks Hitler.
The two Pikachus
As you can see the second Pikachu, now on the field, is holding Electrium Z

was this not obvious from the beggining? they tell you its just once per battle.
...and the first one (he used Z-Nuzzle and then died) was also holding it, but...
...no Z-power option here.

Once per battle per pokemon was also an option
are you dumb

The only safe switch you can have agaisnt a Z move is into something that is inmune to it. They hit so hard that, specially with STAB, that they may be taking up to half of the health if your pokemon only resist it.
I made some calcs with walls, and even they would take around 1/5 and 1/4 of their health from these moves.
Z moves are no megas, but knowing that there is a way to counter them show how much balanced they are.
