That great darkness that kommo-o's preparing for, what if its literal darkness? Mimikyu no longer needs to hide its true form, its trying to worm its way into every house hold in alola with it's cute costume. Its the beginnings of an invasion. And look at marshadow (probably the bringer of the darkness) don't tell me that cute little thing won't have some beastly looking form like hoopa. Mimikyu are its foot soldiers. And look at is typing. Fairy/Ghost. It perfectly walls Kommo-o. Alola's only line of defense is completely useless.

Personally think FATASS THE DEVOURER is the great darkness, but mimikyu is likely some poor sod of a spirit who accidentally got stuck with the nightmare like ones and wants to be more like the carefree and joy spreading sort.
