But Mimikyu has an official art of his attacking animation that shows his eyes flashing on that typical anime style.

You can either argue that yes, it is the eyes and he sleeps with eyes open or it's a visual pun.
If you ask me at least, one of them makes sense and the other is just pretending that Gamefreak did a pun with something that it's obviously the eyes.
