In battle against my boyfriend and noticed how fucking weak and awful I think all of them were. I love Sunflora and Granbull is probably my favorite Pokémon all together. As broken and weak as some be I actually think that Johto has some of the best most simple designs and is my fav generation.

I'm playing through HG again and man, all my hype died after trying to use a bunch of Pokemon I don't usually use. Noctowl and Ariados, in genera,l don't do much and are really annoying to try and use AND I FUCKING LOVE ARIADOS AND NOCTOWL! I'm relying on mostly Kanto mons and It's really bothering me.

Psychic Terrain might help, though it giving a boost to Psychic-type attacks would mean that you'd want to run Psychic on Yanmega to take a greater advantage of it. If you're running a Bug monotype, you at least get Scizor's Bullet Punch, to a lesser extent, Armaldo's Aqua Jet to get SE priority to deal with Accel Rock. Here's hoping for a priority Bug-type attack or Wimpod getting Aqua Jet.

All it needs to find a niche in a modern meta is roost. It would be pretty good if they have it that. Gamefreak refuses to give mons the tool they need to find utility. Example Heracross could make a great choice scarf user. Five gens later still no access to stab u-turn. It's like they hate their favorites sometime.
I'd love a special wall mantine. Imagine scald, roost, defog, and you pick the fourth move.

Ledian, while shittier than it has to be due to retarded stat spread would still be a class A shitmon regardless, as it's an early game bug and it's designed that way.

I mean, you only show off that you're a fucking idiot when you're listing Unown. Do you think that the person(s) that designed them thought "Hey, these should be viable in battle!" Of course not, they're there to be a mystery, not to be (competitively) used. You'd think the movepool would give a hint.

But I forgot I'm on /vp/, where every pokémon should be judged by it's competitive viability, and not by it's in-game concept and niche. A lot of early pokémon are bad simply because that's their purpose, to evolve early and be (relative to other) powerful, but be comparatively weaker in the end-game. That said, GF are fucking incompetent at giving proper moves to pokémon that should by all rights have them.

Skarmory, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, Tyranitar, Scizor, Heracross, Kingdra, Azumarill, Crobat, Politoed, Quagsire, Espeon, Forettress, Porygon2, Smeargle and Donphan are all viable in various gamefreak metas as well as Smogon OU, some situationally and others are staples.

Blissey, Gligar, Umbreon, Octillery, Shuckle, Wobbufet, Feraligatr and Ampharos (w/ mega ofc) are also usable in various metas but not really OU material. Octillery is actually top tier in rotation battles.

Considering Johto introduced only about 100 pokemon, and almost half of those were NFE, I think it did pretty well.

Removal of the RBY Hyper Beam mechanics are the main reason that it was one of the strongest Pokemon during gen 1, when the simulators ran on Stadium mechanics. Otherwise, Tauros outclasses it in every way.
