Glad to! I've posted this more than a few times previously, and it's been a while since I've updated it, but I'm going to move on to Soul Silver soon so that I've finally played through all of the six regions prior to Alola. Haven't strictly beaten Platinum yet, as I'm literally playing through the Elite Four as we speak, the second attempt after being crushed by Cynthia, but I'm very close to the ending, obviously.

Not quite sure what team I want to use through Johto though. I'm leaning towards Gen 2 Pokemon, but the only one I'm really set on is Kingdra. Any recommendations?

In the johto games I feel like there's a disproportionate number of gen1 mons that are actually useful in game. For example, kingdra is great but horsea isn't available until fairly late in the game and the item required to evolve it is very rare (5% hold chance on wild horsea iirc, and requires a trade evolution). Feraligatr and typhlosion are both top tier starters, so grab whichever one you prefer and focus on covering their weaknesses

Yeah, I know there are very few fantastic Gen 2 Pokemon in the roster, but the addition of Gen 4 evolutions helps Soul Silver a little bit by making the likes of Yanma and Piloswine a little more viable, and it's not like Gen 2 has zero useful Pokemon. Currently I'm thinking of Kingdra, Mismagius, and Forretress, but most of those are impossible to come across until the Cianwood gym. I need something to carry me through the early game, so maybe I'll try fucking around with a Dunsparce for a bit to see where that gets me. Feraligatr's a likely starter though, one of my favourites in the game so far.

No way am I remembering my original Blue/Gold/Sapphire/Diamond teams. So I used the most recent replays I did of Blue/Emerald/Platinum and HeartGold instead of Gold.

In HeartGold I wanted to see if I could solo the game with one uncommon Pokemon (Qwilfish). Ended up bringing in Snorlax as backup, but I did manage to complete the entire game with just those two on battle duty.

I overleveled Pidgeot and blitzed through everything with him. Everything else but Kadabra was almost never used.

I found the cloning glitch, so I cloned my starter after he helped me beat most of the Elite Four. I figured that since he was the strongest, then having three of him would make me the best.

Blaziken was overleveled, Gardevoir was male because back then, I only caught male Pokemon no matter what.

Lairon took too long leveling up, so I didn't even bother with it after a while. I had a level 100 Blaziken, so I didn't have any worries about beating the Elite Four.

The first time I tried balancing my team's levels. Type diversity was shit, though, but I thought it would be so cool to have Steelix and Dialga on my team.

The Haunter is Gaspar, the Pokemon you get in an in-game trade. I was furious when I found out it had an Everstone, but I decided to keep him because Haunter was still one of my favorite Pokemon.

My Rufflet didn't evolve until after I beat the E4. He was the team's baby.

I couldn't get the Bulbasaur in Yellow until after the Elite Four for some reason.

Got a Piplup off the GTS very early in Gen IV. Alol at my trade evo heavy team.

Gen V was a disaster, didn't really like my team at all, but didn't like many of the new Pokemon that gen.

My Gen VI team was a lot of fun. An entire team of all time favourites.

Gen VII is shaping up to be even worse than Gen V.

Just spent a few hours making something nice for all my teams.

First team is my team from Red. Being a kid I just used what I liked. The next one is Blue, that one I did in highschool so I was a little more serious. Next row is Silver from when I was a kid, then the next is Heart Gold.

The rest of the order is ORAS, Platinum, Black, Black 2, X, and my planned Moon team. All of those teams but Platinum were "serious", as in a was a competent player and covered types and all that

I don't remember my Emerald team, being 9 years old, I'd imagine it was shit. All I remember is Blaziken, Azumaril and Mightyena.

I also had Diamond too, but it was a copy my cousin gave me full of hacks. He had a shiny Sableye that I loved. His Empoleon was cool too. I traded them to my Platinum and sadly I lost the cartridge. RIP Platinum team

Can't wait to transfer all the teams I can to Moon. It'll be like a family reunion. Maybe I'll get a Gen 1 VC game to keep my busy. I've always wanted to use Blastoise...

What's wrong with that? The romhack has random fairy tale girls and ace trainers with non-mascot legendaries that outlevel the wild pokemon in the area by more than 20 levels on average.

There's so many gimmicky bullshit that it's hard to build a team that has an answer for everything - I once got beat by a Cosmic Power spamming Stored Power Sigilyph with Toxic to counter Dark-types which was partly why I got TTar to phaze with Dragon Tail.

In Yellow, I boxed Pikachu and just used Butterfree the entire game. Sleep Powder + Confusion from start to finish. Never raised anything else up because 'Why bother doing that when I can just make my main Pokemon stronger in the same timeframe?' Same mentality I had for the next three gens.

In Gold, I just used Feraligatr until I got a Doduo, which I evolved into a Dodrio because I was a huge Godzilla fan and autistic faggot and thought it was cool to have 'GODZILLA' and 'GHIDORAH' on my team.

In White, the grass starter was such a total piece of shit that I had to resort to using anything else I could get my hands on.

In Y, thanks to Exp Share, I was able to actually use multiple Pokemon because I wanted to, although Kalos had so many available that I got pretty overwhelmed.

I remember my Feraligatr in GSC had a moveset of Cut-Strength-Surf-Whirlpool. I thought HMs were supposed to be the best moves.
I taught Mewtwo Strength as well, because I thought throwing a huge boulder would be great

Forgot to say, the only one I'm not too sure is the Gen 1 one. I know I kept Butterfree until the end, and remember using Aerodactyl and Lapras a lot, but I also remember fighting the E4 with Pidgeot and Jolteon in the team. Probably memories of several playthorughs mixing together.

The rest I'm pretty sure was my first playthrough team.
