Animals aren't canon and Pokémon aren't animals, though many are inspired by them.

Pokémon breaking the laws of physics is also canon in the pokedex. Pokedex entries are really best described as ways for us to understand Pokémon better using examples from our universe. Animals have never been seen in game so I wouldn't consider it canon.

Real animals haven't been mentioned since Gen 1.

Real animals (except humans) don't exist in the Pokemon world anymore, Pokemon take their place.
