It used to be worse, the anime back in the day only made mention of a fraction of the E4 and Lance was the only champion we got and that was in Johto

At least, they start to give us more E4 members since BF with Agatha, the whole Sinnoh E4, Caitlin and Malva. And "technically" Koga.
