What can be done to fix Steelix /vp/?

Nothing short of raising its stats. It already has everything it needs to play the role it is meant to play. Good movepool, access to stealth rocks, good typing, great abilities.

It's bad because it is a defensive wall that doesn't really stand out in any way compared to other bulky mons. Raise its attack stat by 30, take off 30-40 defense and add it to spdef. Give it a bit more base HP. That's all you can really do.

Play it in doubles.

partner uses Trick Room, Steelix mega evolves and uses Curse

next turn, switch out to Ttar/Hippowdon/partner uses Sandstorm

Sand Force-boosted 1.5x Atk Trick Room 0.67 speed Steelix annihilates one or both of the opposing mons with Earthquake, Gyro Ball, or Rock Slide.
