That's the thing. If we could have something as amazing and popular as Torterra, why wouldn't a sabretooth tiger work out?
I'm not OP, though, and I don't have anything against Luchalitten. In fact I like it, my only problem is that it's yet another humanoid one. GF should really make less of those so we appreciate the ones we have.

Still, with such hatred for all other quadruped starters and how they are the least popular of the bunch, game freak decided for bipedal from now on
You can't blame game freak for wanting the first bunch of Pokemon everyone chooses every new game to be the least hated of the bunch we can only blame ourselves in the end
Also the fact that quadrupeds are the hardest animals to design as you are forced to follow guidelines much more rigorously rather than just going nuts
It's the sole reason why mist of the listen fakes look so bad

I was under the impression that all but meganium and samurott are reasonably popular, and those two are considered shitty for reasons unrelated to not being bipeds.
