Kalos isn't bland.
Kalos is very comfy.
The story is very bad.
They're pretty great designs though, most of them.
The Pokedex is an afterthought to me right now.
There is in fact a shitty and lame Post Game
It's still an alright entry for its aesthetic appeal and design choices alone. It's beautiful. The game is literally beautiful.

Give a him a team of 6 gen4 mons to start his new game and tell him to play the game in his own canon where he comes from the Sinnoh region to kill every Pokemon in the region and steal money from the local trainers.
