Fantastic meatshield while prestiging. If I'm low on revives and working on raising a gym I'll throw Chansey in at the front of the lineup, then switch to the first desired 'mon during the initial two attacks.

Seen similar (anecdotal and scanner confirmed when scanners were up) things from a day or two surrounding a big spawnpoint migration. For Chansey, I've hatched one, caught three in one day, and nothing since. For Porygon, hatched two, seen four and caught one in one day, then nothing.

I would strongly recommend against putting it in gyms. As you've already figured out, it's a PITA to prestige against even for the base 100 prestige points, and effectively impossible to prestige against for 500. Annoying for your own teammates, and unfortunately still easy enough to kill that even at the bottom of an L10 gym, it won't provide a significant barrier to someone from the opposing team taking it out.

So /pgg/ which mons are considered rare but relatively easy for you to catch where you live?

In my case Dratini/Dragonair. There is a spawn point a few meters away from my home and a few more in my town as well. Somehow I keep encountering them too at other places I often visit spread around the country. I don't even bother looking out for them all of the time when they appear on my radar. I even ignored some Dragonaires too, but once I caught one I can't easily transfer it because I still like them aesthetically. I've also reached the point where I could evolve my first 2 Dragonites at once. However I kinda wait till I get some Dratini's with even better CP's and IV's.

I remember the first week of relese, when Dratini nests were a thing. There was a suburb about 90 minutes' drive from where I live, where in the space of a city block, there were 10 Dratini. Only Dratini. Nothing but Dratini.

And dumbass me decided to wait for the weekend instead of dropping everything and taking a day off work. There has never been a Dratini nest of that caliber since. I have one nice 93% Dragonite, and I'm about halfway through another 90%er, but if I'd gone out that day I'd have at least three. At 30 extra coins a day for 3 months, that's $27.00 in pokecoins that would have more than paid for gas for the trip.

I've had the cops called on me just for sitting in parking lots three times now. They were fine and polite and they found it amusing both times and they asked if I was done, and I just left. But these were parking lots, not outside of anyones homes or anything. The third time was a church but I hid and the cop didn't find me, but damn. There is a library here that shares a parking lot with a county freemans outside a city hall. Cop cars everywhere, and there is a gym in the library. And ironically it's the one parking lot where I haven't been approached by law enforcement.

In general local instinct group got way more organised, and we hold several gyms over the city. Mystic is majority, but they attmepted to take over turf where we have 5 lvl 10 gyms, and got BTFOed after temprarly claiming one
