Starters are Grass-type sloth, Water-type jaguar, Fire/Bug type ant.

UBs are still around, and there's enough that there's a whole separate catalogue of them. They're considered "spirits" in the same way pokemon are "animals".

Ability stones

Each one has a generic ability on it like overgrow, limber, soundproof, no specific or complicated abilities like intimidate or levitate. Equip on a Pokemon to override their ability.

There's fucking in it

New mechanic is friendship within party members. Can be increased by doing double battles together, playing minigames, or simply staying in the same party long enough. High friendship decreases the damage done in doubles by move like earthquake and increases the chance of finding an egg when two compatible pokemon are left in the daycare.

New move called Power Room that, for 5 turns, makes every pokemon in battle manifest all of their possible abilities at once.

The box legendaries are Quetzalcoatl, Centeotl, and Ahuizotl. The lesser legendary trio are other things whose names end in '-otl'.

I'd go for a Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca duo of main legendaries- theme of order and chaos

Tezcatlipoca is a rock/psychic (or maybe rock/dark) panther made of Obsidian

Quetzalcoatl is a feathered serpent- perhaps Ground/Flying? Flying/Steel perhaps?

Quetzalcoatl was considered a guardian deity by the people of this region, associated with leadership and strength. It would occasionally appear in the event of war and anarchy to bring peace to the conflict, and then disappear again.

An ancient, wicked King tricked Quetzalcoatl and enslaved it with some sort of artefact- unifying the region by either playing up being "chosen" by Quetzalcoatl to seem legitimate, or ruling with an iron fist through its power. Under the rule of this King, the country prospered, but many people were killed or enslaved, and people lived in fear.

Tezcatlipoaca was instrumental in bringing down this king, and battled the enslaved Quetzalcoatl. Eventually, it managed to free Quetzalcoatl, but Quetzalcoatl was so disgusted with the humans that had enslaved it that it abandoned humanity and was never seen again.

Tezcatlipoaca's Revolution, however, goes too far in destroying everything that the evil King had built- killing many innocents, destroying temples and cities that had bent the knee. Tezcatlipoaca only discovers what had been done in its name too late to stop it, and secluded itself away from humanity as well.

Due to the fall of the kingdom and its apparent luxury, the era of the evil King is viewed as a golden age, and Tezcatlipoaca's revolution as evil attempts to tear it down.


In the modern plot, the evil team has come from a far away region (they are based off Spanish conquistadors) and claim to be blessed by Quetzalcoatl as the second coming of the Kingdom, and take over slowly, worming their way into more and more power as the plot goes on, scamming people, enforcing control. They are an incredibly high-tech faction, and had created a false Quetzalcoatl (using illusion, robotics, cloning, whatever) which they use to convince others that they are the real deal.

The player discovers that they are fakers, and at about the midway point of the game begins trying to convince different towns of this and throwing off their control as you do the gym quest.

Eventually, you are told that the only thing powerful enough to defeat the fake Quetzalcoatl is Real!Quetzalcoatl or Tezcatlipoaca (depending on the version)
You convince them you're pure of heart,defeat the evil team, and convince the world of their fraud. You are recognised as a hero- not a King.

Then the main plot wraps up, with beating the champion, etc, etc.
