The atmosphere was wonderful in the game. The characters had personality. I hadn't noticed how painfully barebones the characterization was until I revisited the GBA medabots. Even Custom Robo's dialogue had a degree of flair.

I decided to try giving this anime another shot over the summer and they're inconsistently competent.

At the start they're doing Team Rocket-style get rich quick schemes and running noodle stands and closer to the end they're giving the protagonists a run for their money and winning a fair amount of the time.

Best thing about the game is that you started out as a special snowflake with medaforce but by the third chapter everyone including the random goons could use it.

The writing is pretty alright. Appropriate for kids but not too kiddy. The dub isn't great, most of the voices aren't that good (save for Metabee, who is great) but good luck finding it in Japanese anywhere.

I found the anime to be amazing.
It showed great progression into a great rowbattler in Ikki with a bare bottom trashbot and turned him into a war torn monster.
It was like a progression of Ash and Charizard into a dynamic duo finding each other when abandoned and growing to love each other.

It's very bizarre and cute. It's different fro the typical kids' show, in that a lot of the don't just doesn't revolve around Medabot fights.

Medabots are big, but you have episodes where the evil gang are remodeling everyone's houses to make them hideous, or the time the heroes stole a bunch of penguins fro the zoo.

Medabots Spirits was meh though. It took out most of the interesting characters and replaced them. The main villain was fantastic though; so creepy.
