They would never have remakes be the first Pokemon games on a new console.

Unlesss it's gen 1 FR/LG remakes.

Gen 3 remakes skipped a generation because Gen 5 was on a dying system (the DS)
Gen 4 remakes will also skip a generation because Gen 7 is on a dying system (the 3DS)
We'll get Gen 8 on Switch in 3-4 years, then Gen 4 remakes a few years later, which will be justified since it will have been ~15 years since they originally were released and the Switch won't be backwards compatible with Gen 4 games any more.
