It's probably the single greatest mon in the series from a competitive standpoint for doing the same thing for 2 decades straight with virtually no change.

It didn't get a weakness removed or was given a new move to help it succeed in a different play style. It got not one buff, not even a Mega and yet it still stood on top as one of the best.

Starmie isn't "rich getting richer", it's "average joe knows how to keep his money"

I don't think you could really call gen 1 Starmie 'average joe', it's either the 5th or 6th best mon in the game depending on how you feel about Zam (both of them are definitely below the obvious big 4, but still leagues ahead of anything else)

Starmie is definitely slowly getting worse, relatively speaking. But I think it will hang onto OU assuming 'ninja gets banned again (quite likely)

It is permanently uber in any sane singles format. even chandelure would most likely be uber if it had kept shadow tag. it's an obscenely broken ability on anything that doesn't have complete garbage stats. for similar reasons, as laughable as it may sound, alolan dugtrio is actually a very real contender for ubers if it gets any notable boost from regular dugtrio
