So, anyone else getting the feeling that this gen is gonna be short?
After all, only one event mon after Magearna, which is Marshadow.
What's been the pattern the past 3 gens is 3 event mons, releasing at yearly intervals to get shown off in a movie for the anime. Magearna already got one, so Marshadow will be in next year's movie.
But then what about next year? There's nothing to use after it.

It's not just a matter of using the box legends or other legendary pokemon.
It's easy to forget, but until an event Pokemon is officially revealed, GF doesn't acknowledge it exists. Each time one gets announced, even though they know people know about them, they treat the announcement as a big surprising reveal, and the movie coincides with distributing the brand new Pokemon.
Now, box legends will likely be used for the first movie with Marshadow, but what about the next one? What brand new announcement will it be used to promote if there are no new Pokemon?

Didn't the datamine only reveal the Regional Pokédex? There might be a few more Mythical Pokémon in the National Pokédex, like how Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus didn't appear in either of the Sinnoh Dexes.

The Sinnoh dex is kind of unique, though. It's literally the only regional dex that doesn't include all new pokémon introduced in that generation. The DP version was missing like 30+ pokémon, and even the Platinum version was missing some legendaries like the ones you mentioned.
While not impossible, I find it unlikely that GF would do that again in Alola.

Gen 6 only had Hoopa and Volcanion, and lasted 3 years. Gen 7 has Megearna and Marshadow, and w e know of at least 1 special form (and shiny), Pokeball Megearna. If there are remakes, they can add an evolution for Marshadow a la Hoopa-Unbound.

Having more mythicals doesn't really mean anything in terms of the movies, since Gen 5 also had 3 movies (unless you count Black and White as separate) and moved Meloetta into the show proper.
