I'm fine with inanimate objects, but Toucanmon's design bugs me out too much. No other pokemon looks exactly the animal it's based on.
Even at least Persian has a gem on it's forehead to differentiate it from it's animal counterpart. Toucanmon has nothing.

No. One of the cutest basic regional birbs yet. And the toucan is nice and isn't Unfezant, so it's not the worst final stage. The only thing might be the worst is the second stage, but I honestly can't remember any of the second stage evos for Regional Birds. And fuck if I'm gonna look them up.

I like the Toucan, but it pisses me off that it's Pikipek's final evolution.

Should a toucan look just like a toucan when it's a pokemon? Are there any other pokemon as bland as toucan sam as far as differences between their real life counterpart and their pokemon? Maybe a few in Gen 1, but there's nothing in the wild that actually looks like say, Pidgey or Spearow. This is the worst of them all in that regard.

What is the thematic concept, in terms of design, behind the toucan? It doesnt look like a conscious decision to draw a cartoony or stylized toucan, it looks like a toucan drawn/3D rendered by a mediocre artist.
