Actually it resembles a virus in its evolved form. The color scheme suggest something like electric/water type. Since it's based on a virus it could also be a dark type as well (i'm not taking in consideration the obvious option for a virus, the poison type, because the color scheme doesn't suggest it at all).

Well they would only share the Water type, which only has two weaknesses: Electric and Grass. If one is Water/Electric and the other is Water/Bug, they don't actually share any weaknesses.

Drapion is a bug without the Bug type.
Trapinch, Vibrava, and Flygon are bugs without the Bug type.
Glisgar and Gliscor are bugs without the Bug type
Slugma and Magcargo are (arguably) bugs without the Bug type

It's pretty clear by now that if a Pokemon that would be a bug has too many different types associated with it, actual Bug typing is the first thing to go and GameFreak are fine with that.

I'm pretty sure it will be Bug/Psychic though. My rationale is that it appears it telekinetically holds its bubble in place, and is quite clearly an arachnid with no extraneous fluff about it. It's pretty stupid to assume that its Water type just because it submerges itself in water, when it actually breathes air like any other spider. Does anyone else feel like there's already been a Bug/Psychic Pokemon even though there hasn't? It feels like a type combo that would've been fulfilled by now

It's a diving bell spider seen from behind. It's turned around because it uses it's abdomen (butt) as a false face to scare of intruders and predators, making it look bigger then it is.
