this is one thing that bothered me about the demo, your mom makes such a big deal of saying alola as a greeting, but hau and everyone else pretty much just says hey or hi or nice to meet you or any other greeting that ISN'T alola.

I think what happens is that foreigners get an idea of what you're meant to do/say, bring that with them when they travel/move, then quickly realize no one actually does it.
