I have no idea why, but my dpad started disintegrating, not just coming off. Making those sticks with a very weak rubber was beyond retarded

Not without opening it up at least a little, but it's a very easy part to access. Undo a couple screws, pop it through the hole, reassembles like a charm. There's absolutely nothing that can go wrong if you don't force anything that's clearly not budging.

I still find my thumb on the d-pad every once in a while. All these years of games especially Pokemon having me move via d-pad really have carved it into my body.
