I still like Pokemon, but Gen 6 (and now 7) have caused me to examine what I still like about them. Much of it is nostalgia, as I feel that the games have strayed fairly far from what made them "cool" in the first place with X and Y, and the demo for Sun and Moon didn't really seem like they were going to fix that.

But, at the end of the demo, where they show quick clips from different parts of the game, I actually thought it looked really cool. The region looks very fleshed out, and in just that little cinematic at the end, I felt a lot of personality that we haven't seen in the games since B2W2, in my opinion. I hope the demo was just that, a demo, and that the actual game isn't Camera-simulator 2016 with your "rivals" that are just your quirky friends. I'm actually somewhat pleased with the Pokemon that were leaked, and the starter evos even look better than the leaked art suggested. I'm hoping this gen GF can get their act back together and Make Pokemon Cool Again.

I actually really liked most of the designs in Gen VI, even if the game itself was a bit lacking. And that's by far the most important thing when it comes to Pokemon games for me - I've never really gotten invested in the story or characters of Pokemon games. X&Y were still a lot of fun because I loved my Greninja, Pangoro, Aegislash, Noivern, Tyrantrum & Mega Charizard Y.

This time around I can't even fill a team with new designs that I actually like, and there's definitely none I'd consider a new favourite. I think the ride is finally coming to an end.

I sort of stopped enjoying the series during Gen 3. I didn't hate it but I feel like it just lasted way too long. Gen 3 was 2 years of elementary school, all of middle school, and part of high school for me. High school is a weird time for growing up and you don't think rationally. I remember trying to replay Emerald at some point and thinking "God I was in elementary school when Ruby came out. Fuck I'm not playing this shit. I'm an adult now."

I did play Diamond/Pearl when they came out but I didn't get really interested in the series again until Black/White.

My town was very small so we did things differently than most other schools:
Primary School - preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade (around 3?-7 years old)
Elementary School - 2nd-6th grade (around 7-12 years old)
Middle School - 7th-8th grade (around 12-14)

But most other districts will so something like

it removed a ton of my favorite features from gen 4 (the underground, contests, pokeathlon, and seals) and I didn't like most of the available dex (I still don't, most of them are boring), and so much of it was tied to a shitty Flash game

I came back in 2014 when I bought XY. All my favorite features were still gone but it had customization so I enjoyed it. SM has a lot of features that I like and the battle UI is the best in the series so I'm excited.
