I honestly like Diglett's Alola Form.

I mean all the ideas I've seen floating around for it were similarly jokemons like Flying Diglett in a cloud or Water Diglett in an inner tube. Hanson Dugtrio is just unexpected, but still a fun little joke.

Honestly I'd rather have ~60-80 solidly designed new mons per gen than a shitload of shit designs. We'd end up with way too many way too quick

We are getting to a point where they're nearing a 1000 pokemon, and can you imagine creating all those 3d meshes, textures, and all that junk for all those pokemons, their shiny form, their mega, and now their alola form?

It's 81, assuming that Solgaleo/Lunala's pre-evo is two Pokemon and not one with a forme change.

Ultra Beasts are Pokemon for all intents and purposes. They're catchable, have shinies, have their own dex entries, etc. They're pretty much just bizarrely designed legendaries.

This argument doesn't work with Pokemon because the designs vary so much that "quality" is extremely subjective.

I didn't find the gen 5 mons any better or worse than the gen 6 or 7 ones on average. Less isn't automatically better.

86 Pokemon is a lot more than you can fit on a team

We've only had that twice: once in Generation I, the first generation, and once in Generation V, where they tried to have a game where you only encountered new Pokémon.
Generation II had 100, and it's pretty well known that likely included a few rejects from the past generation. Also, there were new members to first generation evolutionary lines as well.
Generation III got the closest with around 130, and it also tried to do what Generation V did to a lesser extent.
Generation IV only had around 100, similar to Generation II, and like in that case there were quite a few evolutions and pre-evolutions of past Pokémon. They made up quite a large portion of the Pokédex, and some were not even a part of the regional Pokédex until Pokémon Platinum came around about two years later.
Skipping over to Generation VI, there were only around 70. Mega Evolutions, new powerful forms of past Pokémon, were introduced as well, however. 28 were added upon their debut, and ORAS later brought upon 20. That's around 100 in X and Y, and nearing 120 in ORAS.
Finally, Generation VII will bring us around 80. Again, a new concept has been introduced. This time, it's Alolan/regional Forms of past Pokémon. With 18 in total, that brings the number to around 100 again.

In short, 100 with some new additions being follow-ups on past Pokémon is more common than 150 fresh new faces. While I would love to have more Pokémon (Generation V is my favorite in large part due to its risks), we have to accept reality.

Anyone else think we'll get more mons ? No way that koala doesnt evolve.
