Same as it's always been:
-Keep event-mon on your newest copy
-Fill out Pokedex with Legendary/Unobtainable pokemon w/o trading.
-You keep your bro's from the other games to use in the newer ones, movesets and all

ATM the big thing is that R/B/Y had some busted movesets you could get on selective pokemon they couldn't have gen 3 onwards, so nabbing one of those and setting up for that is good if you're planning to do competitive in any format.

In game, unless you hand yourself a lot of lv1 just hanched mon's, they are going to start disobeying you pretty quickly without whatever accounts as badges in S&M...unless they tossed that feature out, and then yeah, you steamroll everything with your lv100 crap.
Otherwise it's to let you make teams for playing vs other people. You know, the entire thing X/Y, and OR/AS has as it's endgame?

I don't know who made it, but yeah - no GBA games have been made available to the 3DS eShop - only the WiiU one.

It's strange, considering that anyone with an Ambassador 3DS has access to 10 GBA games.
