That's my point:

- OS. It was the first series, we had no idea what was going to happen so expectations were limitless. Ash at least defeated Gary and we got hyped up for the new AG series

- AG. Ash became competent for the first time, but most of the narrative was about May and her Contest story. Ash did decent in the league, but the Battle Frontier arc gave Ash a true climax that saga and used his older pokemon.

- DP. Ash finally beat Paul in the league and made it to Top 4. Dawn's handling in her Contest arc was well done. I was disappointed Ash didn't get to challenge the Elite 4 but oh well.

- BW....literally who cares.

- XY. The saga that set up Ash to win. He was at his best, had a special Greninja, had a team of all evolved pokemon the first time bar Pikachu. He lost to Alan twice...everything was set up for him to win.


I'm not even going to bring up Amour, but either way XY was set up to finally give Ash some victory or proper closure.

Here's a question. For people that keep saying "stop making this show something it isn't. It's just a 20 min commercial!" If it's just a commercial why are they bothering to give these characters growth arcs, and strife? Having their Pokemon have story arcs, etc? Regarding the Litten thing, even if it was anime concept art, it obviously wouldn't mean anything about any confirmed evolution. The artwork leaked MONTHS ago, and any evolution into the third stage for a starter wouldn't take place until more than a year into the anime. The idea that they'd make an animation concept art for a Pokemon they had decided to give to Ash two years into the future and then put a doodle of him and Mallow in the sheet to illustrate that he was going to have one far far into the future makes absolutely no sense.

I liked XY looks better.

My problem with SM is that feels like a filler since school has nothing to do with Ash's goal and the z moves and shit he will learn in school will be forgotten in the next series. At least in XY he got second place for the first time.

The series is promoted as being funny and wacky and...I don't care about that. I hate loud,random and rambunctious shows.

I invested 20 years of my life in this show and I still haven't seen Ash win the league. Its unbelieveable.

As much as I like all the other characters, the way Ash is handled usually determines if I enjoy the show or a saga or not. If the writers screw over Ash I can't enjoy a season. Part of the reason I didn't like BW among other things.
