Now that most of us have been disappointed with the low roster of new Pokemon in Sun and Moon after X and Y, is there still hope for Gen 8? I know it's early to worry about future gens, but is there any hope for Gamefreak to pull through next time and deliver 100+ new mons like B&W or SSHG?
While we're on the topic, let's speculate about Gen 8. What real life location do you think will the next region be based on? My money's on Canada. What do you think the starters will be? I'm hoping for either a Water/Steel armored snapping tortoise or Water/Ground platypus, since I've always went with the water starters.

If you're looking for large amounts of new pokemon introduced in a single gen, it's best you quit after gen 5. You're never getting it again.

This. Gamefreak wants to slow down in reaching 1000, and many of you don't see to get that.
Megas and regional variants were introduced to pad out the Pokedex while providing new ways to play with old favorites. From here on out, there's likely going to be different types of forms for older Pokemon mixing in with completely new ones in every gen.
At the current rate, I'd bet we won't hit 1000 until Gen X.
