Just started playing Alpha Saphire for the first time. First gen 6 game I am not just playing the post-game of.
Thought about using some mons I never really used before in-game, so I've got a Shedinja in my team. I leveled Nincada to 21 so that it got Metal Claw before evolving.
(Does that mean I can still get Shadow Sneak from the move reminder?)
How viable is Shedinja actually in-game? Is there a lot of powerful stuff he can hard-counter? How much fun am I going to have? (I'm playing with exp share off, and so far it is much harder than /vp/ lead me to believe, but maybe that is just because I don't run back to the Pokemon center after every fight.)
Using Shedinja is a lot of fun, I'm actually using one myself in AS too. It's offensively not the best Pokémon so no, there is not a lot of stuff he can counter but Deoxys can't touch it.

Shedinja is pretty good in-game, some opponents do have coverage moves though that completely destroy Shedinja.

Sorry, no idea what I was thinking.

I know it is not great, but once I get swords dance I figured there might be some stuff I could completely sweep like the water gym, or the second half of the elite 4.

The question is, how many important trainers do?

I think every important trainer has at least one Pokémon that counters Shedinja. They switch Pokémon when Shedinja is in play.
