Its not a 180. If you look at their toes you will see that they have two forward and two backward. This is a concerted group within avian evolution. The group that has toucans and the group that has woodpeckers are sister taxa, meaning they are the closest to each other. I am still disappointed because I wanted it to be a woodpecker all the way through as it is my favorite group of birds.
