Well, hear me out. It's less that it evolves and more that it could have been sealed, yeah? And if this thing has not been seen since for fucking ever ago, a little bit seeps out, makes a body like the natives, maybe tries and influences events to unseal the rest as time makes it forgotten. And eventually, when someone fucks up enough to release the rest of the malignant asshole, it gets classified as one of the unknown entities currently showing up that doesn't seem quite pokemon like. Just thoughts in general.
