Actually dark is really good with technician. Go look and see how many dark attacks are 60 bp or less. There are a ton of usable ones. Pursuit, snarl, assurance, bite, feint attack. I'm pretty sure the meowth line gets all of these too.

The idea of having Regional variants is, by far, my favorite thing about this gen, but I am quite disappointed on how things turned out.

Most of them are good (Persian isn't one of those) or at least funny as shit, but I feel like they didn't do enough with such a cool concept. Hopefully they won't drop it after Sun and Moon.

The NX would be a great time for them to finally have a "real" Pokemon game on a home console, and if they do so we're probably going back to Kanto again, hopefully with a new story that's happening years after the first games, and where you'll see Kanto forms for Pokemon of other Generations.

Something that's simple would be easily capable of being drawn from memory without halfway-decent artistic talent, and it would have a unique silhouette despite it having less features than others. I tend to like goofy Pokemon a lot. I loved Alolan Exeggutor and Alolan Dugtrio. But I just can't like Alolan Persian. I really do get what they were going for with this (Alolan nobles bred Alolan Meowths for certain traits without any consideration, to the point of turning Persians into a malformed mess), and conceptually that is top-tier, but...I can't. Why on earth did they ok this? And if they were too embarrassed to reveal it why not just rework it before release? GF has had issues with 3D modeling though so I wouldn't be surprised if the concept art actually wasn't bad but didn't translate to 3D.

meowth isn't a defensive pokemon. it's a fast pokemon. i feel like there is a slim chance that it was deliberately put in there to fuck with dataminers, but if that happened then they also withheld pokemon from the demo. what if what we saw was what we were meant to see? what oldpokemon we can get in game, ultra beasts and a few of the other new pokemon?

Honestly, Alolan Grimer was almost as dumb as Exeggutor (put a stupid fucking long neck on it and also its a dragon). They both made me laugh too and it was hard for me to believe them, but these new ones just go so much lower.

not one, all three alolan forms and we only got maybe 2 thirds of the new pokemon. the alolan forms are deliberately there because of the leaks and the pokedex entries were already there. i don't think they are fake, i think persian is unfinished, dugtrio is literally dugtrio with wigs and golem had a random beard and the gun will be part of the final design.

That is what makes it goofy, the neck. Nothing else grew. Well okay it has a tail, but that is completely forgettable compared to god neck it grew. Comparing that to phantump, who becomes VERY DIFFERENT when it evolves, as opposed to just, say, growing a redwood out of its otherwise normal phantump body is completely obtuse.

Talon flame has a fire feather pattern, that indicates a fire based design. Steelix looks like it's made of metal, indicating a steel design. I never said that ALL pokemon typings make sense, but just because a small portion of pokemon designs give no justification whatsoever for their typings doesn't mean it's the norm, or should it be. And the examples you gave aren't good since they all give some design justifications. Exeggutor just grew a goofy neck, and now it's dragon? makes no sense.

I will say Fairy and Dragon are the worse at being slapped on for no reason, they have the most inconsistency in their design. But even then most of them make some level of sense.

My issue isn't even that it looks ugly. It's that its body isn't even symmetrical. If they wanted to go for a fat and poofy looking cat, fine, but it doesn't even look like they changed the body, like they touched it up with some blue in Photoshop, snipped off the head, and asked an eight year old to redraw the replacement.

At least Exeggutor's lazy redesign fits a theme. This just looks gaudy.
