There are some good abilities. There are also a lot of not-good abilities. Many of the common powerful abilities are synergistic with the mon's moveset (e.g. Gale Wings, -ate) and Alakazam is unlikely to be able to take advantage of them. Many other good abilities (like Intimidate or Pure Power) Alakazam can't make good use of at all. The odds of getting a good ability to counter the opponent's current mon is low.
