Hey guys, wanna do a small apology for not being very active on here or on my Twitter recently. Had some family issues to deal with. So yeah, just letting you know I'm still about and I still try to read messages to me on here.

The work on reverse engineering the new API has gone too far for my expertise but I'm trying to keep everyone updated with at least a basic suggestion as to where the devs are with the progress. Contrary to popular belief, it's not just FPM Waryas working on this project. The API will be public when it is released which means all your favourite scanning sites/bots/whatever will be back up at around the same time. As for an ETA, it's hard to say when but it's in the final stages of RE now.

I'm gonna try my best to get the site up and running again asap but I do have uni work to be considering at the same time. But yeah, kinda dead game, especially without trackers. Hopefully tracking brings back some of the fun. You can still use pokesearch for spawnpoint tracking if you see something cool on the nearby sightings

Once player start noticing an empty lv 5-10 gym that somebody keeps pumping, they'll eventually show up to help.

Despair keeps people down because they don't think it's doable and that nobody else cares.

Knock down lv 10 Mystic gyms to make THEM feel like there's no point in keeping a gym, and show your teammates that you lose nothing by trying.

The exact opposite happened in my area. Now Valor has completely taken over every single gym, and they're all pretty high leveled. Even the more contested gyms that used to switch teams regularly are Valor now.

I've completely given up on gyms now. I can take them down but that consumes way too many resources for just a couple of coins, and they're taken back almost instantly since it's just my one mon in there. No idea where the fuck everyone else went.

My Flareon is still stuck in that gym like a week later, it's my local gym and it usually gets taken over within a day, so I just stuck him in expecting a return by the end, but fuck, it's now an Instinct stronghold which I didn't expect in the slightest.

my only max level mons are the gyarados (both evolved from karp), I have 22 Hypno all over 1600cp (and level 28) and the slowbro, vape, golduck, 1 flareon and fucking loads of clefable can beat most gyms.
I didn't really bother with gyms until late level 20s anyway.

I don't bother dodging non-charge moves.

I just mash the screen with any DPS.
Water Gun pokemon like Starmie and Golduck, if the Snorlax doesn't have Zen Headbutt, I use Golbats too. Vapes, Jolteon, Flareon, any Pokemon with decent quick-move DPS works.

Just dodge when Snorlax yawns. Because that's the point at which he fires the charge move, not when the special effects shows up. This makes it infinitely easier to deal with Body Slam spam and such. Like, the moment he raises his arm to yawn into it, that's when he fires.

I don't know about spoofing but they're definitely using scanners. A sub-50% Dragonite spawned at my work a few days ago. As I was trying to catch it, a group of kids ran to it from across the street in a straight line. They clearly knew exactly where it was and didn't walk around looking for it like I did. Scanners dying with the update probably killed a lot of kids' motivation to play because they don't understand the benefits of shitmon grinding (or just don't want to) or any of the other game mechanics ("MY DRAGONITE IS LEVEL *TWO* THOUSAND") and they just like chasing after rare Pokemon.

Also it's not about whether it's worth your time for coin grinding, I said it was about not letting them get complacent, thinking they have the run of the place. Kids have a lot of free time but not a lot of discipline. If you take down their gym every day, they're going to eventually get pissed because they don't plan on training up that gym every day.

Why isn't dragon pulse given more love? I find 2500k lapras with d pulse to be the hardest to beat. If im using arcanine examine the d pulse does normal damage. same with vaporeon. Smaller dodge window and shorter cool down time too.

I pull my D every night

So I played for the first time since the update today and it sucks. Before I could collect from 6-7 gyms by either adding my pokemon to a level 3-4 gym, or take over a level 3-4 gym. Now ever single gym is level 8+, making them impossible to take without a serious investment of both time and resources. It took all of my potions to level up the 10th slot in one of these gyms, and my highest cp pokemon, a 1950 Lapras, is in the bottom slot. So after all this effort I'm only able to collect 10 coins. And forget about taking a gym from another team, since they're all literally level 9 or 10.

I honestly don't know why this hash function actually matters, but I won't be surprised if they keep extending it by a week every week until the new update and then they have to start over again. Niantic nerfed wild Magikarp wild CPs for some reason or maybe they just fucked with the chance to get lvl 30 stuff but that doesn't seem to be the case base on my last catches as of 4 days ago before I stopped playing. I used to have a shitload of 200s and for the past 6 weeks, everything else I found ended up being under 180. I asked other lvl 30s who play where I do and they seem to be getting less 200+CP guys as well.

But to answer your question, Magikarps do get higher than 105 CP. This is the highest I ever saw in the wild.

The formula used to convert Pokemon base stats from the mainline games to PoGo stats severely punishes any Pokemon that is specialised in physical or special, and not both.

This is why "Speed is bad" is a meme. High speed sweepers like Electric Pokemon, Alakazam, Gengar, etc. all have a really high physical/special stat but a really shitty special/physical stat. This makes their PoGo base game stat shit and thus why their max CP cap is shitter tier while okay-in-all-stats Pokemon with some extra HP (e.g. Vaporeon) and uber Pokemon (Dragonite) have fuckhuge CP ceilings.

This is why Chansey has such shit CP. It is a special wall with mediocre attack, so its PoGo defense stat is shit, attack stat is non-existent, and just has a fuckton of HP. If Chansey didn't have that much HP, her CP ceiling would be like 200-300. Shuckle has shit stats across the board except for its two defense stats. So it'll have a stellar defense stat but Chansey-tier shit CP (along with Wobbuftet).

All your favourite specialist Pokemon from Gen II will be shit. Espeon will be shit. Umbreon will be slightly less shit but have typing and DPS problems (aka. shit), Kingdra will get break the 2k CP barrier barely, Heracross will be Pinsir tier, Blissey will still be shit, and Steelix will be in the shitcan. Gen II also introduces baby Pokemon so a large chunk of them won't even be battle worthy or evolve into battle worthy versions, and only a handful will be worthwhile for battling - namely the three starters, everyone's favourite Tyranitar (whose shit typing will make Machamp viable), and maybe something like Ampharos.

I look forward to Gen II as a content update to add variety for my autism to collect but I'm not expecting it to change this Vaporeon-Lapras-Snorlax meta anytime soon, only extend it with an Ampharos or something else, I dunno.

Oh, that's probably why. Eggs cap at lvl 20 so that's the highest you'll get from them and you can only find lvl 23 Magikarps for now. Check the hatched karp's IVs here https://pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator and evolve it if it has more than 90% since it's probably gonna be better than most stuff you find on the wild unless you catch something max lvl and also with good IVs. If you can get 50-100 karp candies per play session, you can afford to but if it took you weeks, then wait until you're lvl 25-28.

Honestly, if you made me choose to fight a gym of 10 Hydro Pump / Aqua Tail Vaporeons vs 10 Water Pulse Vaporeons, I'd choose Hydro Pump / Aqua Tail anyday.

I just mash the screen so that each fight is finished within 20 seconds, having to dodge Water Pulses for 49/50 seconds for every second of mashing just makes my life a living hell and I hate it.

Single bar charge moves like Hydro Pump only get fired once, if at all, so they are extremely easy to dodge then go back to mashing.
Aqua Tail is also acceptable.

But Water Pulse? They don't start firing until they're charged to 3-4 bars (because I do a lot of damage) and just sit there firing it off non-stop preventing me to from doing anything because they still do non-trivial amounts of damage to my Electric Pokemon.

I have Wing Attack Golbats for screen mashing. None of the charge moves are actually worth the time IMO compared to just extra Wing Attacks. I used to fire one off to finish off a Pokemon because charge moves made the game reconnect to the server in the middle of a fight and remove desync but the game does a better job of not quietly dropping connection in the middle of a fight now so it's not that important anymore.

Today I had my first experience talking to some stranger that was playing the game, it wasn't that exciting but I'll share it anyway.

I saw that GDC talk he mentions weeks ago. And there are many other good GDC talks that talk about developers dealing with their communities and how to react to them to make everyone happy without damaging the quality of your game.

Niantic's designers are a bunch of morons who have no idea about making games, refuse to listen to player feedback and have no passion whatsoever about their job.

It's just absurd at this point, I just fucking wonder what could be worse than this lack of communication between devs and players for the community. When the fuck are they going to step up?

Where I live Valor dominated. That until Niantic killed bots and scanners, them Mystic took over with Instinct as second. I'm afraid they will return once they break the code.

Also half of those gyms are from another city. I stay in another city on weekends and I looked for gyms that already are strong Basically my gym strategy is looking for already strong gyms to buff so I can take advantage of a gym already being taken care by some family/neighborhood leaving the maintenance for them.

Not really true, there aren't many things that comfortably handle a 1900 CP Slowbro with Water Gun/Psychic. Only Parasect really has a good matchup.
