Gen 5 had a more mature plot too. Ghetsis tries to murder Nate/Rosa in B2/W2 too.

Gen 4 was a bit goofy, but Cyrus was a very mature character.

Gen 1 and 2's Team Rocket was very grounded in how nasty they were.

Gen 3 was the only real time in Pokémon's history where everything was overly bright and happy and colorful and light/goofy.

Unfortunately, I haven't played Gates and Super as much as the other two games so I don't remember that much. I do know that by the time you're facing final boss' last form, like 99% of the world is turned to the stone. Even YOU get petrified, so you learn that you get send to some kind of hellish afterlife void. You get better, but still...

In Gates, it's probably the whole fact that most antagonists aren't evil per se, they're just "this world is as bad as it is, the only way to end suffering is to make the world itself end"

No, but concept art, and NPC text, shows that Colress was seemingly supposed to be involved in X/Y, but for whatever reason, they held off on it.

The fact that the Hawaiian-themed "Strange Souvenier" is in X/Y indicated that they were planning S/M for a LONG time. It's probably why they decided to just shit out the Gen 3 remakes instead of properly continue Generation 6.

So it's entirely possible that they were making X/Y, and were going to use Colress, but changed their mind to save him for S/M, which they were also planning at the time.

This is all hypothetical and assuming that this Colress theory is correct, which I personally believe it is.

On the SS Anne, there is an NPC who claims to be an International Police Agent who is looking for Team Rocket.

Generations is treating that Agent as Looker! It was a fan-theory before, but here we go.

Now because of the way our timeline works, we have two possibilities;

Looker fell off the SS Anne and washed up in Hoenn. This would explain why he was late to getting to Giovanni.

>POSSIBILITY 2
Looker came through a Hoopa ring, and is probably from another dimension/ the future. We don't know for sure, because he washes up with memory loss. Theoretically, this could mean there are two Looker's running around, until the "Original" gets sent back in time to become "Looker-two". It's all very wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey.

Other possibilities/notes:

Looker has Audinite, the only Gen 5 Mega. Possibly from a Dimension where Unova was exposed to Megastones, instead of Hoenn. Possibly something noteworthy for the future. Or possible just an afterthought/coincidence on Game Freaks behalf.

Don't worry about Version differences. Those aren't important, they have just been brushed off as "parallel worlds", but the Timeline remains the same no matter what. That's why when OR/AS came out, they remained at the start of the Timeline, just like the original Hoenn games. I hope I explained that well, but I can explain how it works if you have further questions.

I am 100% sure this is what happened. Note that unlike previous remakes, OR/AS didn't come out on any kind of anniversary. They were 2 years late. I believe this is because Game Freak weren't originally going to even do them.

GF used OR/AS as a side project, so that they could focus on Z Version (which was quickly changed to be Gen 7's S/M)

This is why OR/AS had very little Post-Game, a very unusual thing for the final game of a Generation. That "Frontier" too.

The most recent version of a game is always treated as the "Canon" one by developers. Platinum is the Canon Gen 4, OR/AS are the Canon Gen 3, ect. They use Parallel Worlds to explain retcons, and remakes/version differences, but ultimately, only the most recent versions are seen as the Canon/relevant ones by Game Freak.

This is why Generations is using all of the remake redesigns.

I believe there was a point in DPPt where it was stated that capture via Poke Ball could control a deity-type legendary, but you'd be separating it from whatever forces they're connected to. Hence the Red Chain needed to be constructed in order to command the full potential of Dialga/Palkia.

Regardless, Giratina's influence still persists within the Distortion World, regardless of where its physical form might be.

I posted this in a previous thread, but i'll repeat it. Zygarde is the balance between life(Xerneas) and death(Yveltal). Most demons are fallen angels, those that were cast out with Satan, but others are chimera, genetic experiments that the Watchers did and were also locked away by God and they have been going on for quite a while still.

Also, seeing how Arceus and the Unown created the egg I think the first text hints at how eggs are created by a friendship between the pokemon in the daycare. They can create an egg from which a pokemon hatches that inherits both traits from the father (moves and IVs) and the mother(species, IVs, nature).
Arceus and the Unown have a much stronger bond giving them the power to create anything.

Mew and Arceus are pretty much the opposite of each other.
Mews dex entries are written in a more scientific way while Arceus is being praised as the creator of everything and anything.

There is a difference, even if it is small. Clones are much easier then a Replicant, even if the end result is pretty much the same.

Clone can use DNA you have on hand, injected into an egg and creating an exact duplicant.

But what if you didn't have DNA? Well you couldn't make a clone. You would have to figure out by trial and error how something was made and try to make it artificially.

Alchemy and spiritualism have many "wheels" so it's hard to say what exactly it could relate to.
I think the chakras (chackra = wheel) are important in this case somehow.
We can also look at the galaxy and its center, and maybe the earth's core too, as spinning wheels, much like the chackras in our subtle bodies.

The suspicions of the Aether Foundation were not created by a single person. Everyone just thought there has to be an ulterior motive to the establishment of such a group. The Pokemon world is arguably a utopia for both people and Pokemon; such a group advocating for peace and health would end up redundant.

The fact that the Aether Foundation has a headquarters isolated from the rest of the region certainly doesn't help.

It's not necessarily obvious. Of course Team Skull seem incompetent, leaving the role of the true evil team to Aether, but that would seem overwhelmingly cliche and/or expected to happen.

At this point, since the slot for this region's evil team is currently filled by Skull, there are two ways the story could play out. Skull could be a huge front so that Aether can conduct their plans undetected, as described above, or both groups will turn out exactly as we see them now.

As a side note, it seems that the conflict with the Ultra Beasts will have more significance than any conflict with either team.
