Muk was only shown to be smelly in the indigo league. I think a grimer was shown in the gen 4 anime but never seemed to bother people with bad smell. Apparently the new Muk form doesn't smell bad according to the website.

Well, it lost resistance to both Fighting and Fairy. Immunity to Psychic doesn't mean much to me aside from the occasional Mewtwo.
Alola Forms will hopefully have more min-maxing to better fit a niche, but not necessarily the same niche.

That's not super correct. Probably a little better, but you are neutral to fairy and neutral to fighting which is a pretty huge loss, and the main things you gain is resistance to psychic and ghost which aren't that common attacking types. Being neutral to bug can be hit or miss, u turn sucks more, but you don't see bug buzz too often.

I know it just sounds better to say "but it's only weak to ground!" but it also doesn't have many great resistances any more. Either way ground weakness is by far muk's biggest concern, and neither type combos help against that
