Meh, I don't like it all that much. Probably one of my least favorite snakemons.

It's not completely shit though. I just like the sword fighter starter the best (I just have a boner for them, I have always liked knights etc) and its design is not all that bad.

I don't hate gen 5 starters nearly as much as I used to, but it's still the least favorite batch of starters.

Samurott really needs some love, it's not that bad, it's better than Emboar at the very least. Swordmen are cool.

I think part of the problem with Samurott is that it was previously a biped. Also, it's not immediately obvious that the armor on its forelegs contains swords.

I feel people really underestimates Samurott's anatomy and uses for it's swords. People put heavy emphasis on it's swordfighting capabilities on land, when it doesn't really need to move too much to actually land a strike with swords that long. And even if it isn't running a physical set, the swords could still work like shields as they're just giant shells so it still has some alternative use with them. It seems people aren't willing to give Samurott a chance because they are still baffled that it didn't meet expectations.

Cool design

Because it's snake, and a cute one at that. For a very long time I kept the variety of animals my team is based as varied as their typings. I had Rapidash because I felt I needed a fire type and I had nothing like a horse on my team. I took Lapras with me since water/ice was a nice combo, it's cute af and there is nothing like it (what is it even?). Although I had to give up that attitude when Delphox happend.

Serperior only sucked initially because it had a very limited move pool and poor coverage. It got better in BW2 with the addition of move tutors and even better once its hidden ability was available.

Just checked and holy shit it only learns grass and normal attacking moves by level up and dragon tail by TM. It's all tutor and egg moves that have the other types.

I remember using coil/leech seed/leaf blade/return in one play through of BW.

A lot of Generation V Pokemon had that problem. They'd primarily learn moves of their type and maybe Normal or Dark. It hit Serperior hard since Grass isn't that effective to begin with and there are so many dual types that resist it.

I remember Sceptile having similar issues back in Gen III with its level up set

playing it now, I had to train a Hariyama real quickly so I could stand a chance against Wattson's fucking Magneton because all you can have until you fight him is bug, flying and plant types and a shitty Marill.

the damn path of fire is locked away and you can't go there until you beat him either and Sceptile alone doesn't do shit against him.
