It's 7 trials per island, and there are three different types of trials.

Does Olivia being rock confirm that her island's Tapu Koko recolor will be rock type?

Korrina's main Pokémon is lvl 32. tho You must remember XY had a long start and a short middle and very short end.

Within ORAS's Gyms Norman's main Pokémon is lvl 30.

Look at MeleMele, we know 1 trial is in the cave area at the top and Sophocles could potentially be in one of the buildings in the city, where would they put a 3rd and 4th?

Mallow, Lana and Kiawe are all at Akala. Mallow officially confirmed, Lana and Kiawe trailer-based locations.

So there's Ilima on Melemele. Mallow, Lana, and Kiawe on Akala. And I guess Sophocles is on either Akala or the southeast island. I thinking the SE island, since if Akala had four trials, that leaves only one each for the other two islands.

That leaves one more trial for the SE island, and one on the SW island. I'm going to predict that either the trial captain or the kahuna on the SE island specializes in Ice, and is on that tall frozen mountain. There's a rocky area and a marsh-like area, so I'm guessing the other specializes in Ground or Poison.

I have a feeling that you get involved with Solgaleo/Lunala when taking the trials on the SW island.

Just going off the Pokemon revealed so far, Kiawe's Totem Pokemon is either Turtonator, which has a pre-evo it can summon, or Salandit's evo. Sophocles' Totem Pokemon is Vikavolt.

Right, so Fighting for Hala, a Normal Trial Captain Llima (whose around the trainer school and the caves) Electric Trial Captain Sophocles (in the city which's name is still unknown) and one on Melemele we do not know. (probably Bug or something)

Then there's Grass Trial Captain Mallow who you face first on Akala probably, then on to Kiawe the Fire Trial Captain, and then you back track to face Lana the Water Trial Captain or complete her tasks before taking on Olivia, a Rock-Type using Kahuna.

So while this messes up the Z-Crystal=Trial Captains theory, it may be where it represents the "Trial Captains we meet early on" where Plumeria and Guzma are the "unofficial" trial Captains of Dark and Poison Types.

This means that there's a Steel, Bug, and Ghost trio of Trial Captains we haven't met. We are still missing one on Melemele so it's most likely Bug. Steel and Ghost then might hint at the last Kahunas, cause the last Tapu Kokos are a Fire/Fairy and Ghost/Fairy and it would make sense for there to be a Ghost Kahuna on a "dead and forbidden island-" one that they don't build any normal homes on cause it's a sacred place for the deceased hence the floating homes attached to it. Or could be on Ulaula (aka big ass island) somewhere.

It also means that there is probably Ground, Flying, Ice, Dragon, Fairy and Psychic Trial Captains we have not met. If I am somehow right now, you face Ground, Flying and Ice on Ulaula (or one could be a Kahuna cause ice mountain seems like a very chill spot for one) and Dragon, Fairy and Psychic on forbidden island. Maybe Ghost and Steel are refering to Trial Captains you meet or are revealed to us early on, and Ice and Psychic are the Kahuna's typings for Ulaula and Poni/Forbidden Island respectively?

I think the D-Pad thing is a subtle reference to Lana, Mallow, Kiawe and Sophocles representing the 1st gen games/starter typings and/or the anime. (cause Llima is likely an assistant teacher at that school).

Melemele Island (Starting Island)
Kahuna Hala (FIGHT): In the starting Village by the platform after you beat the first six Trials
TC Llima (NORM): By the Pokemon Trainer School but has you meet him in Verdant Cave, along the side of the village for his challenge and then get attacked by the Totem Pokemon.
TC Sophocles (ELEC): In the city and you probably test out the online features for him (like the Poke Plaza Festival) while a Totem Pokemon might be a Vikavolt eating up all the electricity in town somewhere.
TC ??? (Bug): Probably is a girl related to the Daycare and Berry Farm and has you run back into the first forest to calm down a pissed off Ribmobee? OR maybe she has you get berries to heal it?

Akala Island (Fire Mountain Island)
TC Mallow (Grass): Meet her in Lush Jungle which is by the farms on Akala (seen in the trailers), but get attacked by a Totem Lurantis while doing so.
TC Lana (Wtr): Meet her in the main city on Akala but can't challenge her until you take on her challenge (probably fishing tutorial?) and the Wishiwashi Totem by the stacked pools in the NW (seen in the trailers)
TC Kiawe (Fire): Meet him on the Volcanic islet probably for his Trial but before in the Volcano town, and then have to face a rampaging whatever in the Volcano for Totem Pokemon.
Kahuna Olivia (Rock): Meet her actually on Lighthouse island by a cave, though not seeing that entrance anywhere in general with Akala.

And I thought so but it wouldn't make sense unless the outlets are wrong. Cause if there are Seven Trials more so challenges for each island, that would mean four trials are by the Trial Captains, two trials are unmanned or manned by the Kahuna perhaps, and then the Grand Trial. In sense it would mean the Kahuna reuses a used typing from before of one of their TCs, their protegee like suggested before. YET that doesn't work cause Olivia uses a completely different type from anyone else on Akala whose an official, given the four we think are from there are Lana, Kiawe, Mallow and Sophocles. While it could work with Sophocles in the Lighthouse town, it wouldn't make as much sense as him being earlier on and part of a big city if he introduces you to the Pokefestival Plaza you know?

3 captains. 2 trials each captain, then the kahuna's trial. So if there's 7 trials each island there's probably 12 trial captains + the 4 kahunas.

SE would sure have Ice Trial, even if it is 16 or 7 captains. Desert might get one too, Guraondo Taipu probably. Kahunas will be random choosed. Hala half confirmed to be Fighting.

Would say Dragon Type on SW Island for its ancient appearance. tho It wont be 16 trials cause Kahunas also have type specialization and can easily teach you Z Moves.

My guess is 12 trials, 4 Kahunas, 2 Z moves teached outside of Island Passage. MeleMele with 2, Akala with 4, SE Island with 4, SW Island with 2. Or they can go through and make SE Island with 6, which is not impossible since it's the biggest island.

I have a sick feeling the first island only has the one normal type trial and the kahuna battle and that's it. Doesn't look like there's room for more because like 3/4 of the island is just the starting town and the first big city where you meet team skull

Anyone else got deshyped for Kahunas having 3 mons? Ollivia might use Nosepass, Lycanroc and the Tapu from the Island which wont even will be a rock type.

Ulaula (Ice Mountain Island)
TC ??? (Steel): Meet them in the Northern part of the island in the Port Town, probably help them with the Observatory and deal with a Totem Pokemon amok somewhere up there.
TC ??? (Grd): An archaeologist or ruins maniac, probably or fossil lover, has you help them find something in the desert before dealing with a Totem Pokemon on the bluffs in the East. Probably get your fossils revived in that Oasis.
TC ??? (Flying): probably is tied to the building by the ice mountain, maybe a kind of flying pokemon sanctuary? Deal with him/her in a race around the islets in that gulf there and could be tied to that walled city if the Steel TC is not.
Kahuna ??? (Ice): Lives by the Ice mountain in that resort on the black sand beach or something, and has you deal with upset pokemon on the sacred ice mountain before a Totem Pokemon attacks you in the cave. Her sacred platform battleground is the one

Poni Island (Forbidden/Legendaries Island)
TC ??? (Ghost): Lives in that floating port town and is like the grave keeper of the ruins, has you check out said ruins cause something is wrong, find sacred object, get attacked by Team Skull, probably meet the Kahuna of the island.
TC??? (Dragon): Lives in the canyon of Dragons (the one that leads to the Legendaries' Temple) before the legendary storyline fully takes off, probably Drampa Totem pokemon or may be a badass fight with a Komo'o one.
TC ??? (Fairy): You take there challenge in the valley leading up to the big ass tree, and big ass tree is where you have the last totem pokemon. Probably do not challenge until AFTER Solgaleo/Lunaala storyline is done cause by that point the real shit has hit the fan.
Kahuna (Psychic): Probably is related to Olympia and is the "Champion" of the game helping you to stop Team Skull/Aether Corp from mucking things up further. You fight them probably at the platform in the floating town attached to Poni.

Guzma (unofficial Poison Trial Captain) Unknown, perhaps the Bog on Ulaula
Plumeria (unofficial Dark Trial Captain) Unknown, perhaps the steam geyser caves or inactive volcano on Melemele?

And guys/gals/whatevers keep in mind this is a very open world Pokemon game, some of the stuff we saw in the trailer we can not even find on the map, and it's a lot bigger than it looks. Just imagine when the NX comes out and if a DP Remakes comes with it, it would legit be amazing!
