Still hackable. And by doing so you can hack the other one too.

Oh shit, nice. I'll have to look into it tomorrow then.

How does hacked system transfer work? I have a friend who's o3ds I've hacked, and he has a n3ds he wants done.

I'd like to, and I thought I could now that I have a powersave around but unfortunately thats not the case, I'm too afraid to break anything to even think about going under the hood

Aka quality of life improvements got removed, items got their prices jacked way up, and every trainer has a full team pulled off smogon
>>
>>29114916
You buy (not pirate!) a specific DSi game and inject a exploit save file.
Then you do a system transfer, run the game on the new system and downgrade.

You just showed you never played actual difficulty hacks.
Rising Ruby and Sinking Sapphire, for example, actually dramatically cut down the price of balls, and no features are actually removed, it simply strongly recommends you don't use the EXP Share

For X/Y its Eternal X and Wilting Y, no contest.
For ORAS its a bit more complicated. Rutile Ruby and Star Sapphire make it extremely difficult, if going a bit far (Flannery has a Volcanion, for example), but no other changes. Rising Ruby and Sinking Sapphire make it harder, but not as hard as Rutile/Star, on the other hand, it changes a lot of stats (see pic related for an example) and makes every pokemon available, though most legends are on the soar locations.

>>

CFW can be updated hour 1 freely, it gets into a part of the system that can't be undone with an update without the risk of bricking half the systems, which just isn't worth it on multiple levels.
As for Homebrew, it still works on 11.1, you just can't use the easy Menuhax.

nuzlocke pokemon is a form of roguelike.
add in a randomizer and it's even closer. the only thing left is randomly generating terrain/city contents and story, and maybe some insanity that lets you do more than just recolor a pokemon's sprite to match its new typing, and I'm waiting for those to hit soon enough.

In fact, I'd be working on making them myself if I had any coding knowledge at all, the first guy to make that will be an absolute legend.

I still use "cakes" or whatever it is called. I know it must be about a year outdated by now instead of the most current one. I only care about the ability to inject and edit my save files, such as Pokemon, as well as being able to play online.

Cakes is outdated, but as long as you aren't using RXTools I think you're fine, even if there are better alternatives.

People act like 3ds hacking is some mystical art that'll break their shit if they try. But its really just as easy as reading and following directions. I've hacked the consoles of just about everyone I know and two of my own and have never failed once
>>
>>29115803
It's especially easy on N3DS now. Even without the easy route it's mostly waiting for backups to be made.
>>
>>29115602
Not many. ORAS had no customization. They'd either need to rework every piece of applicable clothing, or restrict it to a specific one.
>>

>>
I have hacked it but I also don't care about difficulty
>>
>>29115846
When I bought my galaxy 3ds and did the hacked transfer to get it off of 11.0 the rest of it was stupidly easy. Most of what I did was wait for my ~64 GB of shit to move to and from my SD cards.

>>29115880
What he said >>29115895

>>29115911
Why can't you inject anymore? It's still 100% possible
>>
>>29115846
What's this new method?
I was considering transfering my CFW from my O3DS to my N3DS, but I was worried about losing my NNID on my N3DS, and I was also worried about the potential hard bricks from going to 2.1 on it.

>tfw your 3DS softbricked twice and you had to buy OoT3D to downgrade

It was because I had DSiWare and didn't format, the guide didn't mention it being a hazard at the time.
>>
>>29115688
>>29115707
isn't that a whole emunand situation?

I'm not looking to play .cias or anything. Otherwise I would have made a switch to a more-hacked state ages ago. I've been on even lower firmwares before, the only reason I went this far was I wanted themes and Smealum said he had a solution, it was safe.

All I want it for is playing older emulators and injecting for the most part. Zero Mission, Pokemon Card GB2, Randomized HG, Apollo Justice, Etrian Odyssey 1, PMD 1. Mostly it's stuff I'd buy on the eshop as virtual console but they won't put it on there.

>>29115856
You only really want it for your rival, right? So I'd say just the basic outfit.
>>
>>29115668
>You are on a good firmware.
I actually own OoT3D, I could downgrade even further if I wanted. Would it be worth?
>>
>>29114435
>You HAVE hacked your 3DS right?
Nah
>>
>>29115924
It basically lets you skip downgrading to 2.1.0. However, you don't get the otp.bin file. I don't think you would need it for much besides installing A9LH on 2.1.0, though
>>
>>29115944
No emunand needed.
We have native cfw.
You can run on the latest firmware and keep all your shit. Plus you can use the VC emulators
>>
>>29115880
video guides would get outdated quickly, use Plailect's Guide

>>29115911
>but i can't inject pokemon with PkHex anymore
you can, jk save manger can dump your save, you need to lurk the scene more dude

>>29115944
>Smealum
don't listen to him, he doesn't do anything anymore, install a9lh so you can use homebrew forever, you can still buy games from the eshop or the the carts
>>
>>29115985
So I'd be able to install A9LH, and as such Luma, at the 9.2 stage?
>>
>>29116017
yes, if you have a 9.2 new3ds you can install a9lh in like 10 minutes
>>
>>29115926
The guide really has come a long way since it first started. Back then there actually was a little risk.

>>29115944
A combination of VC .cias and a DS flashcart is what you would aim for then. There's no good reason to not go for a9lh if you're capable, it offers so much. I've played a lot of good games I wouldn't have tried otherwise thanks to CFW

Honestly I couldn't live with a 32 myself, 64 is good for me. It all depends on how you use it I suppose. I like to install a ton of shit I don't play. Supposedly Sun/Moon will be 3.2 GB each so I'm glad I have the extra room to install both
>>
I'm pm 11.1.0-34U

Can I downgrade easily? I have access to any game considering I have a Sky3DS+ Would love to install CIA and freeshop though
>>
>>29116213
Unless you already have a hacked 3ds then no.
>>
>>29116213
No, you can't. You would at minimum need an already hacked 3ds at this point.
>>
>>29116212
I agree it might fill up fast, but its still a major upgrade to the 8 GB one I have in my O3DS. and money is tight right now so the 64 GB model would have used up all the cash I had to spare, which means I wouldn't have been able to get the DSiware title if I wanted to.
>>
>>29116212
At least when I was shopping for a card, the price difference between a 32 and 64GB card was small enough that I might as well go for twice the capacity.
>>
>>29116213
no you need another hacked 3ds
>sky3ds
kek, you're basically in the same place as anyone else on vanilla 11.1, why didn't you downgrade before May, sky3ds is pretty useless.
>>
>>29116049
I'm currently filling all of my needs with a dsR4 (NDS roms, lolSNES, Lameboy, NESds), and stuff from the homebrew starter kit (mGBA, GameYob, blargSNES)

If you could offer me a way to play NDS roms on my N3DS without buying a new R4, that would interest me, in that it would let me compact the two devices into one (albeit the bulkier of the two. it's nice to just carry around my dinky nds unless I have a gba or 3ds game I specifically want to play. also, much longer battery life. 3DS has smartphone battery life. NDS has brick nokia battery life)

If it can't do that, then I've got pretty much no reason to upgrade unless I wanted to replay XY or ORAS in some capacity ever, even with mods (heck no), or pirate games (only if I can't acquire them in a way that supports the creator, or if I explicitly don't want to support the creator, in which case why am I playing something that bad?).
>>
>>29116315
You can force boot the R4 with certain forwarder apps.
>>
>>29116315
alternately, if there's a way to play GBA roms on a NDS without buying new hardware, then I am like... SUPER down. I don't think I'd ever touch Ironhax again if that were the case, the R4 just everything so much better.
I guess there's still technically injection, but I've yet to actually use that feature. the only time I even considered it was when my friends were thinking of starting a local pokemon league on campus, complete with handing out 3d printed badges, beginning with a big tournament among the 12 of us to determine who would be E4 and what was the gym order.

does it need to be a 3ds R4, or will the old, old DS one work? because that's what I've got.
Got it from a friend who thought he broke it, and said if I could fix it I could have it. He just never installed an OS on it, it was a super easy fix.

But a clunker it remains. Even DSi's won't take this thing. I was under the impression that like, 3DSs wouldn't read this thing just as a matter of principle, no amount of tampering would get it to read right.

>>29116429
yeah, I'd absolutely use my phone for the DS stuff too (one less device to carry), except my phone has battery trouble just making it to lunch. If I can't so much as use it to browse 4chan while I wait 30min for my shift to start, expecting it to survive any length of time running emulators sounds out of the question.

So >>29116429 homeboy here is saying I could run my GBC games as VC. Does that play well with battery saves? Or would I have to either find a way to convert those, or if not possible, start over?

No, because I tried before using the Freaky Forms Deluxe hack and couldn't get it working, and I'm too lazy to really get it working. Although I might try again. I do have a 10.7.0-32U so that should be old enough?
>>
>>29116621
Yes it works perfectly fine. I actually exported my GS1 save to my PC in order to transfer my save to TLA with VBALink, exported the battery file then imported that TLA battery file to VC. Because fuck those 6 page long passwords.

It just requires you to load the game you wish to do, then open decrypt9 immediately afterwards then you can import of export gbavc saves.

GBAtemp probably explains the process better than I just did though

Its still a pretty simple procedure. I've done 5 O3DS and 2 N3DS and never had a problem that wasn't caused by failing to read instructions properly. If you take it step by step and read carefully you'll be fine, I assure you.
>>
>>29117289
I think the reason I'm so cautious is just because I had >>29115926 happen to me.

I think I'll try it after I play SM, since that's the only upcoming 3DS release I care about and I'll have time to find a replacement 3DS in the event some rare catastrophic event happens to brick me.
>>
>>29117338
It's not even possible to softbrick.
It's safer than normal downgrading, even.
>>
>>29117382
Has the technique improved enough to give zero risk like that? I remember there was still low risk of shit fucking up and bricking due to shit like hardware malfunction when I last checked
>>
>>29117431
it really has. there used to be like 5 steps involving making emunands and all kinds of shit but not anymore.

I beat Eternal X (insanity) and Rutile Ruby. For a moment I almost enjoyed myself but the base games are just too fucking bad. Bad music, shit characters, boring locales, terrible designs and writing that would be insulting to a 3-year old.

If you want a hard Pokémon game, it's PMD or nothing.

For one gen, I would love it if they went to Chunsoft and did a joint project, with Chunsoft writing the story and handling the difficulty curve and Gamefreak doing the mechanics, designs, etc.
>>

Gamefreak purchase of Chunsoft when?
>>
bolbol
>>
>>29117858
No way, Chunsoft are industry legends. The CEO invented Dragon Quest, AKA the foundation for literally every RPG ever, including Pokémon. Gamefreak are probably honored to see them making Pokémon games.
>>
>>29117858
I'm pretty sure part of why Chunsoft makes such good PMD games is because they're allowed to do their own thing without Game Freak breathing down their necks. PSMD has some difficulty spikes that even surprised me as an adult, Game Freak would probably force them to tone it down a ton. Also what the other anon said about Chunsoft being legends, though I've admittedly never played one of their games outside the PMD series.

Any of the difficulty hacks. I know EXWY does it for sure, and I definitely noticed an AI improvement during my run of Star Sapphire.
>>
>>29118886
No.

What, you think the 3DS has VAT or something? It doesn't even have bans for longer than two weeks, ever.
>>
>>29115120
And Meme Sapphire combines the difficulty of Star/Rutile with the changes of Rising/Sinking. As a result of having more Pokemon available to you though (and the trainer teams not being modified to take advantage of Pokemon changes), I'd peg the order of difficulty for ORAS hacks to be Star/Rutile > Meme > Sinking/Rising from hardest to easiest.
>>
>>29118998
Yeah Rutile had some real ballbusters, like the first Ace Trainer you fight.

Forget Baton Pass, that Sylveon with Hyper Voice oneshots everything unboosted.
>>
>>29118800
Dray (the bloke who made SHSS and BBVW2) made the Rising Ruby/Sinking Sapphire hacks though.
>>
>>29115961
Yes, follow Plailect's Guide to downgrade and install a9lh, then you can always be on the latest firmware and never have to worry.

People act like installing a9lh means you HAVE to pirate CIAs but if you're really against all that you can just use a9lh to always have access to homebrew and still be on the latest system update with no fuss.
>>
>>29116946
NX will likely take a lot longer to be hacked. The 3DS took fucking ages and that was with Nintendo not even knowing CFW would be a threat and just focusing on flashcarts. Hell, Wii U still doesn't have IOSU so piracy on it is limited.
>>
>>29118886
It depends on the romhack. That anon was using Star Sapphire which, along with Rutile Ruby, doesn't actually change any of the Pokemon locations or movesets/stats/abilities/etc. It makes national dex Pokemon available from the start but they're in their normal locations and so as a result, all the Pokemon you catch in the game will be completely legal.

Other romhacks like EXWY or Rising/Sinking actually modify Pokemon to make them more viable as well as changing where you can find them in the game, that means they won't pass the legality check for online play.

The other issue is that the update patch CIAs tend to break some of the features of the romhacks when you have them installed but IIRC recently there's been a way around that so a lot of the romhack authors have been able to include compatibility with the update CIAs in their hacks.
>>
>>29119079
The worst Ace Trainer for me was the guy with the Mega Sableye right before that treetop village area. My team was battered by the time I made it to him and he consistently pushed my shit in and I could literally see the edge of the town on my screen from where I was standing. Took ages to get by him.
Hands down the hardest fight though was that final one with Zinnia before catching fug and deoxys. I finally beat her then Deoxys stalled till he almost struggled to death, I almost lost my shit.

>>
>>29119304
My worst fight was still in Eternal X, the fire E4. I was like 15 levels under her and she just annihilated my entire team with no effort, due to that annoying Ninetails using sunlight to completely gimp my water attacks.
>>
>>29119407
Haha, I'm currently playing through Eternal X, just got through Victory Road with my team at around the late 70s. Glad to know I have something difficult to look forward to. Honestly I find with all these difficulty hacks that once you have a proper team with their proper moves it becomes substantially easier to win most of the fights unless they happen to have something that you have no check or counter to.
>>
>>29119407
I also reckon the hardest fight in EXWY, for me personally at least, was that Grass gym with the fucking Sky Forme Shaymin. I had to rely on getting lucky with a Quick Claw to outspeed it and land an Ice Punch. I don't think it was scarfed but it outsped my entire team and wrecked me repeatedly.

You get more features on the hacked 3ds, you don't have to pirate anything if you don't want to and I don't understand why everyone acts like that's the only thing you can do. When you actually have a hacked one you see how much Nintendo was limiting you before. Save managers, custom themes, event assistant, easier screenshots, streaming, etc.
>>

I was playing Insanity mode, that's the one where gym leaders get the legendaries. I'm pretty sure one of the later gyms in EX also has a Serene Grace Togekiss, maybe the fairy gym? I agree, it's a fucking nightmare. I've played through EX with Greninja, Farfetch'd, Gogoat, Umbreon, and Darmanitan, with Hawlucha as a HM Slave. Gogoat is a fucking boss, the speed boost he gets allows him to absolutely destroy.

>>29120207
Arm9Loaderhax (a9lh) is a payload that's installed directly to a partition of your NAND that's executed at early boot, allowing you to initiate custom code so early in the boot process that it even allows recovery from hard bricks. It's similar to BootMii for the Wii. A9LH is the best of the best as far as 3DS hacking goes - Ninty can never get rid of it or break it and it allows you to have CFW on the latest SysNAND no matter what. Even if they did manage to somehow brick you in an update for having it, the fact that the code is executed so early in the process would allow for easy recovery anyways. It's pretty darn easy to set up now, just takes some time waiting for backups to be created and transferred.
>>
>>29120333
Just buy a shark card, they're extremely cheap and work well.

None that I can think of, GBATemp would be up in arms about it pretty quick if it ever did happen. The closest thing to 3DS malware we've had is Kernel Time Machine, lel.
>>
I already tried before Fire Emblem Fates was coming out in the US. I got stuck at a yellow screen 300 times, so I gave up. They even said I put the files in all the right places, so I have to be the unluckiest guy in the world.
>>
>>29125758
What did that do?
>>
>>29125843
It was just some sperg's overhyped failed attempt at a system downgrader back when 10.3 downgrading was first discovered that had an even higher brick chance than the standard SysUpdater.
>>
>>29125935
Ah, I see. I didn't really get into the scene until a bit after that.
Thankfully there's no malware like the Vita has, there'd be tons of kiddies wiping their device accidentally (means less now, but still).
>>
>>29126079
The funniest thing about that time was that there didn't even need to be any malware because despite the frequent warnings from the devs that the downgrade process was completely unstable and had a high chance of bricking, there was still an unbelievable number of GBATemp kiddies who were just too hyped up over the potential for piracy to listen, and it was those same kids who would sob in the thread about bricking their precious 3DS's.
>>
>>29126712
Kek. Yeah, shit was really unstable back then. At this point, the 3ds has mostly passed the stage where malware can have a big impact, I feel, since restoring your nand is simple as long as you have the backup.
It's actually kinda strange, really, the lack of malware for 3ds. Vita has some, the DS had some, I'm sure there's been some for other consoles, but not really anything for 3ds.

Since S&M have boss pokemon

I wonder if files can be arranged for any pokemon to be a giant boss version. Hacks should be interesting.
