Find a flaw.

I realized why the end of XY feels a bit empty compared to the other series:

- OS. Ash finally beats Gary in the league, uses all his older pokemon at the time in the league and Charizard goes to down to a new Pokemon. Misty gets sent back to the Gym.

- AG. Ash beats the Battle Frontier and May beats Drew in the Grand Festival. May gets a pretty satisfying sendoff tying with Ash in a Contest and splitting a ribbon and follows her rivals.

- DP. Ash finally beats Paul and makes it to the Top 4 going out in a blaze of glory against Tobias. Dawn makes it to the finals and narrowly loses to Zoey. Infernape's story is complete.


In XY even though Ash makes it to the finals, we only see him beat Shota. He loses to Alan 3 times, and Serena's crush on Ash is downplayed so she can leave and go do Contests. The Flare arc was really well done though.

XY just feels like its missing some closure
