I think Gen 2 has the highest concentration of pokemon that are no good competitively, but in terms of visual design it's by far the best generation. It (G/S/C) also has the artstyle that works best for pokemon in my opinion.

The distribution of mons in gsc is fucked. That being said, heracross, skarmory, donphan, steelix and tyranitar are some of my favourite pokemon, and scizor has been pretty consistently top tier since gen4
