It would have been fine to let them start off chasing Pikachu for a bit, because it was absurdly strong early on. But then they should have let Ash catch a bunch of other Pokemon as he went along, prompting them to follow him around trying to steal from him.

Still keeps the repetitive kiddie theme to it, but makes it less retarded.
