The EXP Scaling was confirmed as far back as the E3 presentation. This is why I'm not disappointed the Share is the same as gen 6. XP Scaling with greatly reduce the overleveling effect it causes.

According to E3 footage, EXP Scaling is there from Gen V this time, where underleveled Pokemon will receive more EXP and overleveled Pokemon will receive less EXP, so most likely that will not be an issue.

I play with the EXP SHARE OFF until I get to victory road, then turn it on

Hated exp share at first cause I played XY on release and realized too late that the game isn't balanced around it.

But now I think I'll just skip the tedious, fillery, and unmemorable trainer battles and save me some time. The forced encounter battles will probably net me enough exp anyway and I can always go back if I'm underleveled.

The whole screen effect thing as you get closer to someone who wants to battle should be a great help with this too.

This tbqh. The old exp share helped a lot with this too. For example when say a grass type in my party was underleveled and I'm going into a fire-type gym. Kinda hope they bring it back under a different name but I doubt it.
