I've never been trying. This is my genuine opinion of XYZ. We allowed certain degrees of shit to fly (Eevee running out of Tripokalons twice, Serena not dancing with Ash and losing to an objectively inferior performance) because the payoff was building up to be more than worth it, but it fell over spectacularly and now all the flaws we overlooked must now be accounted for. So I think I figured out the correct order of events for the most part of the first 2 episodes.

>Ash and Delia arrive in Alola
>Ash and Pikachu go have fun
>Team Skull appears and causes some ruckus which is where we see Ash and Pikachu use Quick Attack
Ash doesn't have the Z-Ring here
>Afterwards Ash and Pikachu go exploring and wind up in the forest and see Topu Koko and chase after it but lose sight of it and run into Bewear instead
>Running away they wind up running into Kukui, Bewear still in pursuit of them
>In trouble, Kukui gives Ash the Z-Ring to fight off Bewear
>Seeing him pull off the Z-Move on his first attempt he invites Ash to his Lab and gives him a Pokedex and invites him to the Trainer School
>Ash, with his newly acquired Z-Ring, goes with Kukui to the school and we see Ash greet the Class like in the first preview
>Ash, at the front of the class sees those who he ran into on the beach against Team Skull and have that "It's you!" moment like all transfer students have in anime

This could be wear the first 2 episodes will likely end. Judging from the newest preview I'd say that Ash also meets Mallow, Lillie, and Lana during the Team Skull encounter as the background is the same as the Team Skull preview.


On another unrelated note, I really like that OP. Each time I replay the preview it grows on me, it's pretty damn catchy!
