How do you defend these? A few days ago a couple of my friends new to Pokémon (from go) told me they didn't like Klefki because they're just keys with a face. One of them knows my favorite is Chandelure and pointed out it's design was bad too for the same reason and that just slapping a face on an object and calling it a Pokémon is lazy.

Why do people hate objectmons?
It seems like they could have a lot of potential for wacky designs.
monster
/ˈmɒnstə/
noun
1.
a large, ugly, and frightening imaginary creature.
So a spooky chandelier that shoots fire or a magical keychain that unlocks portals are not imaginary enough?
>>29084676
Why is keys + face inherently worse than horse + fire?
tell them to shut the fuck up as the sheer fact that they hold that opinion in first place means the've already made up their mind and won't let themselves be swayed
people who arbitrarily decide that objects = lazy can not be reasoned with

>list article
>Pokemon in the headline without the accented é
>"just" in the headline
Quality journalism

>my friend don't like thing I like what should I do.
Don't know, maybe understand that different people have different taste and move on with your life.
>An object with eyes is retarded
>But an animal on fire/dowsed in water/covered in leaves isn't
This argument is one of the most retarded the community has.
What are their thoughts on the Magnemite, Voltorb and Geodude lines?
>>29084789
Grimer, Ditto, Misty
>>29084789
One of them mention liking Geodude, they've never talked about the other two.
>>29084753
Just fuck my journalism up senpai
>>29084676
I still don't understand why pokémon based off objects are bad.
It's like the "literary my mon's ____" argument, it's like they think when they say that i'm supposed to hate it now.
They complain when new pokémon is too complex but call the ones that are simple designs lazy
i hate these fag "journalists" who dont actually follow pokemon and have the xD pokemon is still around attitude? like it isnt still insanely popular
What are the pokemon that this "journalist " put in his list?
>>29084676
say it to my klefki and see what comes about m8
>>29084676
W-what else could you do to Chandelier anon? Deform it until it isn't a chandelier anymore? Give it a body? 'Cause that'd be weird as hell.
>>29085070
Chandelure*
>>29084676
Pineco is using tree bits as armor. The actual body is similar to a bagworm
>>29084745
It isn't to me
>>29084676
Certain Pokémon want to be close to people to kill them, likeI think, don't quote me on it thoughthe litwick line, or just because they like and want to be near people. Certain Pokémon, like Voltorb, want to hide in urban locations.
For all intents and purposes, refer to pic related.
>>29085070
I'm not checking the article but do people seriously not like chandelier?
>>29085001
>like it isnt still insanely popular
If you compare with the pokemania from the end of the 90-early 2000 pokemon had lost a lot of its popularity, the only thing that come near the level of popularity pokemon had back them recently would be the Minions craze from last year.
>>29084676
>How do you defend these?
I don't. I like them, and if anybody else doesn't I just don't really care.
If you really need to defend objectmons you like, try >>29084745's logic with your friends.
>>29084676
>Cartoon animal
That's literally my mom's dog, Baaaaaaaw!
>Dragon-monster covered in spikes, so as to not resemble an animal
New Pokemon are overdesigned! Baaaaaaaaaw!
>Chair with eyes
Stop putting eyes on things, Baaaaaaaaaw!
I'd stop caring, too.
>>29084789
Well the magnets are just a small part of magnemite, and a pokéball isn't even a real object to be fair.

If you don't want to read it:
Cofagrigis

Cryogenal
Lunatone
Drifloon
Swirlix
Klink
Trubbish
Cottonee
>Voltorb line
>Grimer line
>Geodude line
>Magnemite line
There's been objectmons since the beginning.

Last time I checked, ordinary pinecones don't explode, ordinary chandeliers don't shoot soulfire, and regular keys don't slay dragons.
It's just reductionism-based "reasoning" as per usual.
>>29085132
but I wasn't saying it has the same popularity as back then?? My point is that it obviously hasn't died out and it's still popular and well known unlike trends like Yu-gi-oh which are basically over in the mainstream.

You can tell the guy that wrote this clickbait didn't play past Gen2
