ITT: normies & casuals expose themselves

Ever since the release and X and Y, I get really turned on imagining myself slutting around the pokemon world and lust after a few of my pokemon like my shiny f.emale Greninja. I'm really not sure what awoke any of this in me, but it might have something to do with how popular the game was around release paired with customization. My imagination runs too wild and I need to be stopped.

Just thinking about self-inserting into Sun and Moon gives me the hardest boner.

Playing Gens I and II as a kid, I kept thinking Poison was weak to Fire. Just because I knew gas was flammable.
Even still, I often default to using a fire move on Poison Pokemon if I dont have a psychic or ground move handy.

I've been playing since gen I and up until a year ago I thought Kingdra was a split evo of Horsea.

I gave up on HGSS after losing to the Johto Elite 4 a few times. I just couldn't deal with it anymore.

I have a living Pokédex in which every Pokémon is nicknamed whatever the hell I could come up with in the thirty seconds after first catching it. No renaming allowed, everything had to be named. There are some pretty retarded names in there. And, since it has Pokémon that have been carried forward from Gens III, IV, V, and soon VI, I can't even go back and painstakingly give them all species names. All I can do is keep the tradition going and hope to catch new copies to replace some of the more egregious offenders.

I consider myself a bona fide Pokemon fanatic but I've only played two mainline games in the past 10 years- Diamond and White 2. I spend far more time on Showdown and on boards than playing actual Pokemon games. To be fair, Gen 3 really was awesome- hopefully Gen 7 surpasses it.

Monferno and Infernape don't learn Flamethrower by level up at all, they instead learn Close Combat (Monferno at 36, Infernape at 41). So if you let your Chimchar evolve right away, you'll get Close Combat, but miss out on Flamethrower.

Of course you can use a TM to teach Flamethrower, or you can keep it as a Chimchar until 41 then use a Heart Scale to get Close Combat, if you need both moves.

What >>29088072 said, but the issue is just effortlessly jumping a Pokemon up from lv10 to lv100. If you've beaten the game and are just breeding for competitive mons or something then level is hardly an issue until you hit the point you need for the evolution/right moveset, but if you're playing the main game, a Chimchar at lv50 is going to have a much harder time carrying you through the E4 than an Infernape is based on stats alone, which means keeping it unevolved is going to be a detriment to your success until you do learn the moves you want and you let what you're holding back evolve.

Also if things went in the alternative way you suggested, pseudo legendaries and a decent chunk of Gen 5's roster would be awful, since they hit their final evolution at a relatively late and thus would only benefit from the increased stats for a shorter period of their life.

Yes they will be the same. Stat calculations only take into account base stats of the pokemon, IVs, EVs, and nature. As long as these are the same, the stat totals will be the same. What level the pokemon evolved at, or how quickly they earned the EVs doesn't matter.

It took me far too long to defeat the Elite Four in Pokemon Yellow when I was a kid. In my own defense, I was six.

I don't think I ever beat Red on top of Mt. Silver.

I never finished Diamond because the battles were so slow and agonizing.

I have never finished the Pokedex, I came close in X and Y with around 670 but I never finished it.

When i first finished Yellow, my Pikachu was at level 81. I also had all 3 starters, a Snorlax, and a Primeape. So at the end of Gold when I was fighting Red, I was convinced that I was fighting my Yellow version team, but the game was glitched,because he was supposed to have a Primeape instead of an Espeon.

I never had a legit copy of Gold/ Silver as a child, I played a bootlegged version, one was a bad translation, and the other had curse words. The battery, as such, went dead very quickly, so I never really got to Red's battle.

I didn't fully experience gen 2 until HeartGold and even then I still haven't done the Red fight

The only games I've actually beaten were Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (a few times), Pokemon X (three times due to boredom/living dex), Pokemon Y (once for living dex), and Pokemon Star Sapphire.

The worst part is, I've played most of the mainline games and got far in some of them, but I just never got around to beating them.

When I was a kid, I played my first game that was Leaf Green. I played the entire game and got so good at it. Eventually, I had beaten all the gyms so I thought I should go where you fight the rival the second time. I went there and, after walking a bit, found a lot of water. Didn't know what else to do to get to the League, left the game and never played it again. I lost the game eventually.

I got Blue when I was 4, maybe 5, and couldn't read for shit. Got stuck in Viridian City because I didn't understand why that old man wouldn't move. Figured he'd move eventually and went to mess around on route one some more with my Squirtle. By the time I actually got to Brock I had a Blastoise.

SM is going to be my first pokemon game.

I have still yet to beat ORAS, not that it was hard but because after beating Wallace I had no idea where to go because I skipped text and don't remember the game well from when I was a kid.

I still haven't bothered to look it up. But I'll probably finish it in my current wonderlocke.

I never trained a slowpoke because I thought it would not evolve unless I also had a shelder.
I've gotten fucking surprised to find out that Kadabra had another evo (Sabrina's Alakazam destroyed my team more times than any other pokémon in the series).
I replaced my Dugtrio's Earthquake with Fissure because the game didn't show the move's sumary before you got it, and I thought Fissure would be an even more powerfull ground move.

When I was 6 I traded my Blaziken for a Absol to some older kid. He tricked me by saying it was a rare legendary. This was when R/S just came out but that's no excuse.

Gen 4 was out but i was stuck playing sapphire. My freind told me about froslass and i really wanted one on by team. He tells me the only way to get a dawn stone is by finding a rayquaza holding one.
