Not green enough

Not a fan of the way it's hunched over because of it's shell. But it's one of the better Grass types, which is considered to be one of the worst, so there's that.

When I found out that Kalos Starters were based on RPG Classes then I knew that Greninja would be the most popular of the three like Thiefs/Rogues on most MMORPGs, and Chesnaught would be the least popular of the three because is another defensive Pokémon and in MMORPGs the Knight/Paladin class is one of the least popular.

I'm still surprised that I was right.

Honestly he's one of my favorite starters. I love literally every single stage.

I feel like the hate circlejerk in /vp/ exists is mostly just to be contrarian faggots for no real reason. People like Chesnaught, but it's not exactly the most popular, so the circlejerk ends up looking like a bunch of normies.

I think it's also because people don't get the color choices for it. It's meant to look like a roasted chestnut, which reveals a beige/light orange nut as soon as it pops.

I like the cream colouration its supposed to look like an open chestnut and the cream is reminiscent of the pith inside. I think it could have had slightly more green and brown but thd overal palette is nice and works with its theme. It's Shiny is an unripened chesnut split open too early.

It's not a bad design, It's just not advertised well. Delphox and mostly Greninja took all the spotlight in both the games and anime. However Quilladin has to be the weirdest design for a mid-evo.

Depends on the game.
On paper RPGs the paladin is one of the best.
Physical/warrior classes usually are at their peak at low levels/mid level, when wizards can throw little more than magic missiles and the rogue can, luckily, stab someone if the lightning is right.
After that point, the wizard start getting access to spells like "Rewritte reality" and the rogue can slip through keyholes, hide in plain sight and kill you seven times in a turn.
The paladin unlike the warrior, whose only advantage is gonna be a bigger sword, can master holy magic or nature.
Chesnaught just got a bigger shield.

Kind of boring from a design standpoint and from a stats standpoint. It got a good niche HA and a good niche signature movie, but it's still 88/107/122/74/75/64 stats on a pokemon with too many common weaknesses.
