Nah. While I do think that Ballio/Pinnister is a neat concept, the problem with it is that it isn't really all that inspired. It has the same issue that the majority of fakemon starter evolutions fall into.

The issue being that it only takes one little concept idea and doesn't do much else with it. It doesn't really take any real risks or possibilities. It simply plays it 'safe'.

The artist did put quite a bit of idea and thought into Ballio/Pinnister, but there could have been a lot more that went into the physical design. There could have been more that changed between Popplio and Pinnister.

I love the concept, but the execution left things to be desired.

I don't know, that seems like reaching for the sake of deluding ourselves, although I honestly just like to get to the bottom of things, whether something's real or not.

D.I has plenty backing him up, the art style of the concept art (anatomy and stuff) seems consistent with the original leaks, although I do realize there's the possibility of some fan that could have "stolen" this and gone along with details other fans may have been echoing along the time and made his/her concepts along with some head canons. And we already know to a extent the starters' middle stages, which seem to start to awfully look like the archer/wrestler/siren thing, which doesn't make Ballio & gang look good in this situation. I can't really say 100% for sure they're fake or real, but they're inclining towards fake, unless there's something beyond me I'm unaware of.

To this day, all we really know about D.I is, he's some sort of freelancer intern (he even gave some company names' IIRC), left simply his email and nothing more than that. Besides that and figuring out the initials which may or may not mean something, there's no other way to track him down. There's no way around this, for all we know, he might be a intern or he might just be some random ass guy. And considering how things are going regarding the starters' final evos, it would take some weird ass miracle or turn of events for them to somehow be real. Maybe the little cute dancing pop idol turns into a hulking clown acrobat lady sea lion or maybe there are different evolutions after all and it somehow happens to be different paths and this is something new for the starters to go along with the Day/Night evos/Alolan forms? I don't fucking know, neither of us does and it's crazy to even think about it.

Novembers' right around the corner, so will it really hurt to wait a little bit longer just to see how thing will turn out? I don't want to jump into weird 1% chance conclusions and trick someone with it, that's it.

And I agree on the whole request/sketch point, although there is also the chance that he simply couldn't (under time/pressure limitation). I too draw and if anyone were ever to say something like "hey, were you the one who drew [insert kinky shit here]" right here, I'd just say "okay" and post my freaking .sai project, because that's the program I mostly work with, SAI Paint Tool, with sketch/lineart/color layers and all, depending on whether I didn't delete that shit. Wouldn't post my dA though, that'd be suicide though. It'd take a minute more or less, but still manageable for that person, if they had such time in their hands. Paper sketches, either scan or photo, depending on what they have available, might have taken more time depending whether they have such stuff near them or not.

Well, he pulls inspiration from those Bozo punching bags, so I'd imagine his standing animation would be just kinda gently swaying like how those wobble. Idle animations would probably flexing a bit to play up the strongman bit or juggling some bubbles. Dunno about attack animations, but one would probably involve his bubble ball and chain.

The only reason I happened to like this "thing" is because the design didn't unsettle me at all. People were freaking out about it in the first days for whatever reason while in the mean time, all I saw in him was essentially bigger Popplio with a look as threatening as Charizard but is pretty much a sea lion clown that looked acrobatic as fuck and is probably cheerful and fun personality wise and fun for battle

People happen to like designs for different reasons, but don't just pile us all together as if we're all a big group of shitposters. We just happen to like it, that's quite literally it.
