I always saw oddish line as something more special than a regular wild pokemon.

also, Porygon would make graet thematic TM&Item based progression. having to choose between things like thunder bolt or ice beam, etc. and being rewarded with the up-grade on certain challenges, rather than evolving upon grinding.

In terms of being easy to raise, Shuppet and Golett stick out from the Ghost types. Shuppet, because feeding on negative emotions is a good Pokemon to have around teenagers, and the Golett family are about as Lawful Good as the Ghost type gets.

I'd give abra a weak special normal type move to start. I'd give machop pound and I still have no answer for a dark starter. I do think that there would be an event or something that could evolve machoke and kadabra around level 36.

The fact remains that you could get abra and machop fairly early in each of the first 4 generations and they've always been solid in-game. They even stuck around in DP's small dex.

Beldum would simply have to be *given* more than Take Down in a game that used pseudos as starters, because you need both it and Larvitar to avoid multiple dragons, unless you want to do a two-starter game.
