Pretty much just roamers now. For other legends, since you can raise IVs in SM, you only need to reset for a nature which is fairly simple with a synchronizer and a good capture set-up.

In Gen 1, only Mewtwo. In all other gens, use it on a shiny if there's a chance it'll escape or end the battle before you can catch it. Anything else can be brute-forced with normal balls, but shinies are too rare to let them get away.

The Master ball is for Mewtwo because its a purple ball with a big M on it.

I've been replaying platinum lately, and I used an R4 to emulate the dist roms for the oak's letter, member's card and azure flute. I was able to catch shaymin and darkrai in pokeballs relatively easily, but arceus will not stay in a damn ball no matter what, I must have tried 100 times by now. I am very, very tempted to use the master ball. but it will just look hacked (yes it is hacked anyway because azure flute but whatever).

Shit anon, you just triggered me. I spent months before successfully chaining my first Beldum in platinum and the motherfucker used take down to death because my autism refused to let me use a MasterBall. Took me less than two weeks to find another one and I brought a Haunter with Hypnosis so it couldn't use take down and I finally caught one.

Then of course they gave out free shiny Beldums a few years later so it's worthless.

I normally save it for shinies unless a legendary starts pissing me off.

I reset around 10 fucking times for Articuno in HG. Paralyzed, 1 HP every single time and it kept chomping up Ultra Balls like it was nothing until it killed itself with Struggle. My patience finally met its end and I 1 shot it out of anger, reset and used the Master Ball.
