The shops were awesome though. EV training, leveling, egg hatching, affection increasing, etc. It'll be even better now that getting decent IV Pokemon isn't a chore like it was then, so you can really take advantage of it.

I thought it was great at the time because it was, to my knowledge, the first time it was actually viable to correct EV mistakes and buy Ether and PP-Up. But gen 6 gave better alternatives to most of the Avenue's features without having to grind trades. PP-Up is still a bitch to get, but the rest is much better now. I hope the online plaza thing in S/M is less of a hassle.
