Whismur in Ruby. It was my first Pokémon game, and I was determined as all hell to see what else lived in Rustboro Cave. Then a different Whismur appeared, sparkling, and I knew that must've been somethin special.

Not counting Red Gyarados in Silver, then the first one I ran into was something at the base of Mt. Silver, didn't know Shinies were a thing back then and just killed it not paying attention, figured Red Gyarados was just special. After that I didn't see a Shiny until Diamond where I caught a Golbat, named him Green because I'm uncreative.

Haven't seen another one since. Granted I'm not good at that shaking grass thing to make them appear better and I don't spend a lot of time trying to breed shinies specifically. I just typically play the games, have some fun, and go about my day like when I was a kid.

I no longer have that copy of Diamond either, so all my Gen 3 and 4 Pokemon are long gone, sold my DS like a couple months before BW were announced because I needed the money at the time. Sad times.

Was going to get the Cleanse Tag and this little cutie showed his face! Meowth was already my favorite Pokemon, both anime and in-game from Blue version. Than I happened to hatch a shiny Dratini using the Red Gyarados in my first Egg based off a bullshit rumor that you have a 50% chance of a shiny Egg when breeding a shiny. So I believed that rumor for a long time. Then I got a Level 15 Golbat in Mt. Mortar while going to get Tyrogue, and since Golbat took that spot I never bothered with Tyrogue. All in one Silver version file.

Of course back then you didn't find out it was shiny until you transferred it to Gen 2. I didn't really know what shinies were then but I realized mine was a darker shade of yellow.

Also recently ran into a shiny jynx randomly in Y while looking for that snowflake Pokemon (cryconogel??) without even shiny hunting!

I was doing a nuzlocke in Omega Ruby and I found some rando ass shiny fucking Golbat
I decided to break the rules a bit

Staravia in Diamond when I was 12. Used the PokeRadar randomly in a patch of grass and saw the "Shiny!" patch and ran to it.

Realized after I'd caught it that I didn't have repel on and could have easily fucked myself. Oops.

There's a thing called a shiny clause. Either way it's not like it gives you much of an advantage that would invalidate the nuzlocke entirely.

My first was a male Nidoran in HeartGold just outside of the National Park. Nidoking's one of my favourite Pokémon. Managed to transfer it up to OR.

I didn't realize the gastrodon I caught was a a shiny until weeks after the fact. I might not have ever known if I didn't scroll through all my pokemon in its box and see the star symbol in its summary.

Felt like fate. Gastrodon becaome one of my favorite pokemon after that.

Got a shiny Eevee from Bill in SS. On top of that, it was a girl.

On the gameboy gold I saw a shiny Graveler in the cave below the elite four.
